Shaq replied by saying that could be manipulated. To buttress his statement, Shaq pointed to the inaccuracies taught in school, such as the theory that Christopher Columbus had discovered America.

You’d have to ask the flat earthers the answer to that question. However, I think their basic story would be the earth is like a saucer with an icy outer rim (Antartica) so there’s no way to fall off. If you look at some old vintage maps that basically the way the earth was depicted.

I don’t blame him for this. There was a day we trusted people to tell us what was fact and what was not. Even the fridge lies to us, tells us we need a new water filter, when in reality its just a light on on a timer.

I understand the notion Shaq is having, and I’m not justifying his position. If he looked at the math, or had heard of Eratosthanes, he’d have a different position on it, probably.
There are folks trying to use the Bible as a science text. I don’t think that’s necessarily wrong either, but we humans have to adhere to the scientific method, because most of us can’t hold up a rod and keep the sun from going down. I believe it happened as the Bible said it did.
I also can’t figure out how everything on earth didn’t keep on travelling as the earth underneath it stopped.

You should read Genesis 1, 5 and 11 for yourself. You can decide what to believe, but the Genesis timelin of human history from Adam to Abraham is plain, and does not need Ushers chronology. determine the time of Abraham, and you get the Genesis age, about 6000 years ago.
