How Angry Will You Be If The Republicans In Congress Do Not Repeal Obamacare?
Econmic Collapse ^ | 02/23/17 | Michael Snyder

Top Republicans are now publicly saying that Obamacare will never be fully repealed. In fact, many Republicans in Congress are already using the term “repair” instead of “repeal” to describe what is going to happen to Barack Obama’s signature healthcare law. Without a doubt, the Republicans in Congress are eventually going to do something, but strategists in both parties are now suggesting that most of the key elements of Obamacare are going to remain once everything is all said and done. It will be put into a more “conservative” package, but it will still be Obamacare.

On Thursday, former House Speaker John Boehner made headlines all over the country when he said that a complete repeal of Obamacare is “not what’s going to happen”. Instead, Boehner said that Republicans are going to “fix Obamacare” and that they will “put a more conservative box around it” in order to keep their constituents happy.

Of course this isn’t what we voted for. For years, Republican politicians all across the country have been promising that Obamacare would be repealed once they got control of Congress, but now Boehner is telling us that all of that was just “happy talk”…

When the Republicans finally get around to doing something, they will inevitably declare it to be a great victory, but will it actually be that much different from what we have now?

Yes, the IRS penalty for not having health insurance will probably go. But there will still be coverage for children up to the age of 26, there will still be mandatory coverage for preexisting conditions, there will still be mandatory coverage for maternity expenses, there will still be some form of Medicaid expansion and there will still be subsidies for the poor.

1. Which age/demographic groups voted for Democrats?

Gays: The CDC reports that the estimated lifetime cost of treating HIV is $379,000 (in 2010 dollars), and 20% of gay men are HIV+. Considering the percentage of promiscuous gay men in the entertainment industry, this was one reason the Hollywood crowd were big fans of Obamacare.

Would like to see that and social security go away too.

Sounds like you'd be happier in Somalia...

You DO know that it is Trump PRIMARILY who does not want to repeal Obamacare, right?

You are paying that much attention I hope.

It’s TRUMP. Trump is the one who wants to keep ALL the major provisions of Obamacare! Get with it.

Government sucks, big time. Even the founders knew that.

And we let them run a health care business....

WOW!

LIVID!!!!

They passed repeal 6 different times while Obama was there - knowing that he’d veto it and that there was no chance of overriding that veto. Now they are hemming and hawing?

Please, Mr. President, DRAIN THE SWAMP!!! Put pressure on RINO Ryan like crazy. FORCE them to adhere to their promises, as you have done so happily and willingly with your own promises.

ObamaCare needs to be replaced with something that benefits the American taxpayers and their children - NOT the Doctors, NOT the Insurance Companies, Not the AMA, NOT the Lobbyists... something that’s cheaper, better and makes more sense.

Today the Medical Community uses computers to bill people, collect money, and keep records. The system of tomorrow will use computers FOR medical care. Cheaper, safer, and better.

Trump was elected President based on repeal AND replace. The Republican Establishment backed ONLY repeal. I stand with our President. Repeal AND Replace...

ObamaCare must be replaced with a rational medical system that benefits the American taxpayers and their children - NOT the Doctors, NOT the Insurance Companies, Not the AMA, NOT the Lobbyists... something that’s cheaper, better and makes more sense.

I did not say "retirement" was an entitlement. I said SS was. There's a difference.

Maybe the system needs to be altered or shored up or done away with eventually. The government has mismanaged the SS pool of funds and stolen from those funds over the years. But under the current system, the government forcibly took my money out of every paycheck during my entire working career and you say I am not "entitled" to have it returned to me? Your argument lies in fallow ground.

My wife and I are both veterans and receive VA care. It was part of the deal when we joined. It was promised to us in return for serving our country. You hear the "fake news" outlets bad-mouth it but it is not as worthless as you or they say it is. It is the best medical care we have ever received. More funding? Absolutely.

So I disagree with your arguments that both SS and VA benefits are not really entitlements. Your arguments are logical fallacies. They are a distinction without a difference.

You missed my point.

Republican voters benefit disproportionately from many of Obamacare's worst provisions. If you doubt that, just go back over the last seven years here on FreeRepublic and notice how many Freepers post comments like this on threads about Obamacare:

"I hate Obamacare but my insurance company has to cover pre-existing conditions."

"I hate Obamacare but I don't want any lifetime coverage limits."

"I hate Obamacare but I want my employer's insurance to cover my adult children."

Etc., etc., etc.

Most Republican voters don't hate Obamacare at all. Freeper Jim Noble astutely noted this out on another thread yesterday. They don't want to pay for it and they hate the name, but they're very comfortable with most of its provisions.

All I know is, Republican voters went to the polls in 2010, 2012, 2014 and again in 2016 to repeal Obamacare.

If the voters of a state want insurance companies to cover preexisting conditions, or whatever. That can be passed at the state level and the citizens of that state will shoulder the burden of much higher insurance rates or taxes.

The House is heavily gerrymandered and Republicans are safe unless they don’t do exactly what they said they would do, repeal Obamacare.

Heck give the left a bone if need be and expand medicaid to cover more people, especially many of those receiving subsidies to pay for Obamacare insurance.

But scrap everything else. It’s none of the federal governments business.
