My commentary: A real nice touch at the Armed Forces Ball. Melania was paired with a sergeant. Trump danced with a Navy petty officer.

It’s dress, but the tab on his shoulder says “Honor Guard” so maybe he’s detailed to the 3rd Infantry “Old Guard”? Somebody here probably knows. I see parachute & air assault badges, plus an 82nd Airborne Patch on his right breast pocket. Also aviators wings.
I love the glittery gown of Ivanka.

I didn’t see any pictures of her dancing with her service member but WOW - did he know his way around the dance floor and she didn’t miss a step with him. Hannity said Pence looked on and thought, “what the heck” at some pretty fancy dance steps they were doing. It was cute.
Does anyone know who did the atrocious singing of “I Will Always Love You” that they danced to at that ball? It was HORRIBLE!!!! Belonged more to an obozo bash than a Trump!!!! Found it - Josh Weathers Band. Guess my taste in music is a lot different than others from the comments who all thought it was glorious! Something somewhere was telling me “Whiney Houston” and perhaps that influenced my dislike of it..

Also agree! And so refreshing to see people who are real and not pretending to be something they aren’t. Class shows.
He’s an Old Guard guy, he is wearing a buff strap on his left shoulder. I know when I was there that was only awarded to Old Guard soldiers upon successful completion of “new man training”. TOG has the usual support positions you find in any other Infantry Battalion along with others not normally found. The Fife and Drum Corps is one example.

Thanks. Somebody pointed out that the gold badge above his right breast pocket was likely a set of foreign jump wings. I mistook them for a set of aviator’s wings.
Oh yes! Ivanka’s gown was a work of art! Of course she was beautiful, as always!

Whoever did the original article should learn how to differentiate between a Marine and a soldier. Mrs. Trump danced with a soldier, not a Marine. Mrs. Pence was the one who danced with a Marine.
So true, and a fine patriot's words. The blessings of America are not appreciated in our carefree nation.
Melania must understand the hardships of Slovenia in a way your average American cannot.
Perhaps we can find a way to show the hardships endured by peoples in other lands. Minus that, we can at least raise our children to learn the value of hard work.
Melania was so very gracious to the Sergeant! She chatted with him the whole time they were dancing, and laughed when he twirled her! President Trump also chatted with is partner, and they all seemed to be having a great time.
I agree, but as I pointed out to a friend on FB, who posted the side by side picture that had been posted by Duff Goldman, who had designed the cake for Obama, President Trump didn't bake the cake, and probably never saw it before it was rolled out. Haters need to take it up with the caterer.

That, and the fact that everyone is subject to the laws of this nation, no matter their placement in society or the government, is the reason our daughter-in-law's family immigrated to the US from Brazil over 25 years ago. Her Dad still marvels at the opportunities available to anyone who wants to WORK to make like better for themselves and their families.
