This 18 month long and polarizing American election has been truly surreal+absurd.
One of the truly strange effects of this election is that certain of my female friendships that had endured for decades—through good times and bad times; through career highs and career failures; through personal disappointment;through joy, happiness and the thrill of victory and personal achievement; through marriages, children, divorce, sickness and even death of loved ones or partners; basically, through life- the good, the very bad and the truly ugly—could not withstand this friggin’ election.
Denying God thrice at the 2012 Democratic convention.
The wife and I did a 30 day road trip out west recently. I connected with a woman I had dated in college 40+ years earlier and she invited us to stay at her place & catch up when we came through her area.
Before we got into her state she texted me and said she had looked at my Facebook page in more depth and was concerned that it might not be a good idea for us to stay there as she was a firm Hillary supporter. That we might not get along.
I assured her that we could have a good time visiting without binging politics up. We did end up staying in a hotel because of a logistics issue totally unrelated. Ended up having drinks and visiting at her place with she and her boyfriend & then dinner out. We all had a very good time, thoroughly enjoyed it. I did take her some Kentucky Bourbon Ale and later she sent me a note saying how good it was, that she and some friends drank it while watching one of the debates. Had to laugh at that. Listening to Hillary and drinking VERY good beer. Oh my.
My wife knew that I had been quite serious about her in college and we (wife & I) both agreed that I had dodged a bullet when she broke up with me because no liberal could stand living with me.
BTW, she’s a pediatrician. Is it just me or are the ranks of the medical profession weighted to the progressive side? My family doctor and my cardiologist are both serious gun people, but I’m thinking they may be exceptions.
He won... You can stop because it is like beating a dead horse already.. I say this with kindness and because we are family. I am not posting on and on about Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton (throwing up a little). I believe in giving Trump a chance but I don't believe in an all white, racist, bigoted agenda which is the Mike Pence way. Continuing to feed in to the "I told you so" mentality is further dividing this country and creating enemies out of friends and family members... let it rest and let's give this all a chance together. Please because now you're making me really upset.
My process has been to stat on issues where we agree. Even most liberals can agree on about 80% of the stove government does well or poorly.
If you can be reasonable, you can split the difference on half of what remains.
That leaves you at 90% agreement.
After that is becomes purely a case of looks and personality.
These people love Marx and servitude more than you. Screw ‘em.
It was noted at Thanksgiving that NO politics would be discussed at my Democrat BIL & SIL s house. Their house their rules. Now we meet at my FILs house for Christmas. No rules there. Time for a MAGA hat.
While the end result would be vicariously enjoyable to see, I hope we don’t see the same for at least 40 or 50 years ;-)
Uncle Drango, you shouldn’t write my cousin completely out of your will. You should list her immediately after me, with a $1 inheritance, with the provisio of her contesting your will forfeits any claim she may have to your estate.
My brother seems upset that he cannot ‘un-friend’ me, as I do not do FaceBook.

Just my $.02. My attitude changed when I was diagnosed with Leukemia over ten years ago. My Niece is a Democrat and won’t see a dime. Yeah, I’m a meanie. LOL

WEAK minded people who have been fed the racist propaganda from the media and don’t have the fortitude to become educated on the issues themselves!!! You are better off without them!!! I can’t imagine filling my brain with the remarks that OTHERS have made and NOT wanting to discover or investigate the truth for myself!!! I will bet you that these friends have NEVER even glanced at a Trump rally these people seem to be VERY CLOSED MINDED!!!! More than this they are content with the way this country is going and are convinced it is GREAT, because Obammie SAYS SO!!!! NOT because they feel it is great but like everything else they are TOLD it is great!!!! You should NOT want snowflakes in your circle of friends, you need stronger people than this in your circle of friends!!!!

I no longer have time for folks that are so mentally unsound as to support Democrat politicians.

I have more and more come to believe that women are generally incapable of friendship in the sense that men understand it. Their entire understanding of it is that they gain approval and usefulness from you, and give the minimum back.
And they will turn on you at the drop of a hat. This is a reason they are not allowed in the mafia.
I was just on the phone with a prospective customer, a guy I barely know.
Of the 15 minutes conversation, 12 of it was spent bashing libs and talking conservative politics.

What’s with assistant DA’s?
After seeing her annoying posts on FB I finally asked a friend who’s an ADA if she really planned to unfriend people who voted for Trump.
She didn’t respond to my question but she did tone down her posts considerably after that.
I think that some of this election’s dem voters are decent people who got their “news” from questionable sources and let themselves get caught up in the left’s hysteria.
