I watched President-Elect Trump yesterday at what the MSM are calling victory laps in the heartland; actually they are thank you tours. I also saw his interviews with several Fox News talking heads. To be sure, it was the real Donald Trump, only less bombastic and more presidential. Although he did scoop his own PR team by announcing the appointment of General Mattis as Secretary of Defense he also passed on the opportunity to say bad things about any of his previous rivals in both parties.
This newly tempered demeanor, along with the near universal praise for the thoughtful and seriously qualified people selected for cabinet positions and his well articulated actions announced for his first 100 days leaves most of the medias criticism of Trump in the dust. What happened to their rodeo clown?
Yeah, no; this just wont work for the MSM.
Actually its simple: youve been Trumped!
Able to build tall buildings (and walls) from a single hole in the ground
Thats right, Donald J. Trump outplayed the players. Having employed every one of Alinskys Rules
You heard it first here; Alinsky works for us now!
he managed to stay in the headlines every single day following his announcement of running for president. He was in turn outrageous, intemperate and provocative. How else could you completely undermine the existing corrupt media? The crony system of patronage? The anti-middle class policies enacted over the past 8 years? Yes, he is a populist; you say that as if its a bad thing. Aside from the elitists in both parties the American people are delighted to hear that he wants to make us masters of our own destinies again.
You know the Left has reached the end of the road when all they can do is upgrade their enemies from racists, sexists, homophobes and Islamaphobes to white-supremacists. Heres a little of the exchange from last nights Harvard Kennedy Schools post mortem forum with the Clinton and Trump campaign teams:
I would rather lose than win the way you guys did, said Jennifer Palmieri, Hillary Clintons communications director, her voice cracking as she confronted Donald Trumps campaign team, including manager Kellyanne Conway, sitting a few feet away.
Determined to make her point at a conference historians will use to analyze President-elect Donald Trumps stunning victory, Palmieri said the platform the Trump campaign gave to white supremacists and white nationalists was a very, very important moment in our history of our country.
An angry Conway replied, Do you think I ran a campaign where white supremacists had a platform? . . . Are you going to look me in the face and tell me that?
You did Kellyanne, you did, Palmieri said. Chicago Sun Times
As far as I can tell the rest of the Hillary team strategy involved charging all internet news sources that refused to run with the official Democrat Party Talking Points Memos as fake news. Post-defeat they added whining about how its not fair Hillary lost when she won the popular vote. In their alternate universe the world works the way they want it to work, not the way it was designed to work. Not entirely their fault: America as a representative Republic has not been taught in American classrooms since the mid 60s.
Yes people, this is no longer your Mommy and Daddys government; the intelligentsia, the elites, the crony capitalists are about to be replaced with thoughtful adults who are committed to Making America Great Again. More like you grandparents government only better.
Any-hoo, Id like to send this message to President-Elect Trump: we hear and appreciate your heartfelt thank you to those of us who supported you. Butt allow me, on behalf of the thinking half of America, say, thank YOU Mr. Trump; for hearing the American people sing.
For making us believe that America will indeed be great again despite all the nattering nabobs of negativity. Thank You.

Shades of Spiro T. Agnew. Nicely done. :)
I think it will be too, Lord willing, but in a Phoenix rising from the ashes sort of way.
The reason: If politicians like Trump, et-al do what is really needed to get us out of this financial death spiral, the voters will kick them out of office faster than you can say Bob’s yer uncle.
I would rather lose than win the way you guys did, said Jennifer Palmieri, Hillary Clintons communications director, her voice cracking as she confronted Donald Trumps campaign team, including manager Kellyanne Conway, sitting a few feet away.
OK, well keep losing!
America never set out to be great.
It became great because of the Constitution, the freedoms and limits on government that it ensured.
America will not return to being great because that is a goal.
It will only return to being great by returning to the freedoms and limits on government given by and recognized by (”inalienable rights”) the Constitution.
Much - but not all - of what Trump is focused on fixing is doing just that. Sometimes without his knowing that it’s the Constitution he is bringing back.....for him many things are pragmatic corrections that he sees as vital as a very successful businessman........
The reason is simple. Any REAL solution will require a lot of pain. And the voters don’t like pain. And it will be severe pain.
So they will lash out at the apparent cause of this pain: The politicians making the hard decisions.
But we will suffer the pain one way or the other. And that is when we rise from the ashes.
There is a sequence. You can’t really ‘abolish’ the welfare state when so many aren’t working or about to lose their jobs due to systemic problems

Well said. A very profound statement.
And if you shrink the government, you put millions of people out of work. The economy can’t handle that.
I could go on. It’s covered well in both these videos. One is very entertaining (and short). The other is just the facts and more useful, but I recommend watching both.

Spiro Agnew’s greatest contribution to American culture.
The libertarians don’t quite get that. What are all those bureaucrats going to do when they are fired? They’ll be unemployed, on welfare and end up with lower paying jobs. Then they will have less money to spend in the economy, less money to spend in restaurants, stores, etc. Then those businesses won’t do very well...
We may have to do it but at least be aware of the consequences
That’s the thing. The government is such a large part of our economy, which now DEPENDS on it, that we are stuck. It’s one of the reasons I say there is no voluntary solution. We are a bit like a car headed toward a cliff, sliding sideways. We’re going off the cliff, no matter how good the driver is. The only hope is to jump out of the car and risk broken bones and possible death. Nobody will do that. We are going over.
I think we can reduce the government by attrition. Just don’t replace people retiring or leaving to seek private employment.
I think we can reduce the government by attrition. Just don’t replace people retiring or leaving to seek private employment. the other aspect of this is that government employment does not add value to the economy, in fact it allocates private money, that could be used productively to creation of regulations that stifle the real economy.

It was “negativism” (same difference, I guess). The writer who put those words forth was the late, great wordsmith, William Safire — one of Nixon’s speechwriters (along with Pat Buchanan).
