The libertarians don’t quite get that. What are all those bureaucrats going to do when they are fired? They’ll be unemployed, on welfare and end up with lower paying jobs. Then they will have less money to spend in the economy, less money to spend in restaurants, stores, etc. Then those businesses won’t do very well...
We may have to do it but at least be aware of the consequences
That’s the thing. The government is such a large part of our economy, which now DEPENDS on it, that we are stuck. It’s one of the reasons I say there is no voluntary solution. We are a bit like a car headed toward a cliff, sliding sideways. We’re going off the cliff, no matter how good the driver is. The only hope is to jump out of the car and risk broken bones and possible death. Nobody will do that. We are going over.
I think we can reduce the government by attrition. Just don’t replace people retiring or leaving to seek private employment.
I think we can reduce the government by attrition. Just don’t replace people retiring or leaving to seek private employment. the other aspect of this is that government employment does not add value to the economy, in fact it allocates private money, that could be used productively to creation of regulations that stifle the real economy.
