Hannity calls on Trump to freeze out the press

Fox News commentator Sean Hannity said that until journalists admit to colluding with Hillary Clinton’s campaign, President-elect Donald Trump should reconsider granting traditional access to reporters.

“Trump can do this and speak directly to you, the America people, without having his words twisted and taken out of context,” Hannity said on his Fox show Tuesday night, noting that the president-elect had put out a video announcing a plan for executive actions in his first 100 days in office. "Why not do that?”

Pointing to stolen emails from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, Hannity said those assigned to cover the former secretary of state’s campaign had failed to uphold the most basic requirements of their jobs.

“So until members of the media come clean about colluding with the Clinton campaign and admit that they knowingly broke every ethical standard they are supposed to uphold, they should not have the privilege, they should not have the responsibility of covering the president on behalf of you, the American people," added Hannity.

Do NOT freeze out the Press. They are protected by the First Amendment and truly are the Fourth Estate (ref Edmund Burke). A Free and Independent Press is part of the philosophical foundation of our governance.

I would point out that "freedom of speech" entitles no one to a captive audience, and that " freedom of the press" entitles no one to a source.

Since all the alphabet news sources, NYT, WaPo and AP all run the same stories with the same viewpoint, they should together be allowed one pool reporter, one credential to share. There’s no need for clones.

Not sure how far Trump should go punishing the press but here’s an idea that would really hurt subscription revenue for most publications.

Executive order: Beginning 2/1/17 government will discontinue paying for subscriptions to publications sent to federal government offices. Subscriptions can be made but billing and delivery details must be made individually between the publication and the person requesting a subscription.

I would take it a step further. Only those who apologize publicly would be granted access to Trump press conferences and interviews. To humiliate these bastards, I’d make them grovel as if to a king.

Trump should get the FCC to cancel the air wave rights of ABC, NBC, PBS, and CBS also.

They wanted war? They get war.

"Not generally a fan of Hannity, but I think he is 100% correct on this one."

I agree, on both Hannity and the issue.

Trump needs to continue talking to citizens like the did during campaign, using “state-of-the-union” / fireside chats like FDR did, on a biweekly, but at least monthly basis.

He needs to use these chats to update citizens on how he is working to force corrupt Congress back into its constitutional Article I, section 8-limited power cage, while putting a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that Congress cannot justify under its Section 8-limited powers.

Trump also needs to propose new amendments to the Constitution for those issues that the states deem appropriate for the corrupt feds to be involved in.

The epitome of feel-good actions that only end up hurting yourself.

Hannity acts like the MSM will stop reporting on Trump if they’re frozen out.

He’s wrong.

Bannon, Conway, etc. are too sophisticated to take this seriously - they want to manage their message.

The MSM will still have access to Trump’s critics and report their side of the issue, and if the administration won’t talk to them they won’t be able to get their story out.

It would be nice if everyone stopped watching TV news and reading newspapers and instead just read Breitbart, but that’s not happening.

Mark: I would do away with that rediculous Annual White House Correspondents Dinner as well. A bunch of bullcrap display of hypocrisy of “putting aside” their differences, blah, blah, ...blah, blah, blah.

If I were Trump, I’d tell them to stick where the sun doesn’t shine.
