This is thin, but it fits into everything that is being said about filling the Secretary of State position.

Bolton would be an inspired choice both in terms of the temperament needed to turn around a fat, flailing and failing State Department that is more interested in being liked by the right people than in pursuing the nation’s interests and in the message it sends.
State is a byzantine organization with its own personnel regulations and it has traditionally operated as though it was the sole adult in the room and the president, especially when the president was a Republican, was an unruly child. Bolton has caused the Iranians and North Koreans to complain about him in the past and the Democrats filibustered his appointment as UN ambassador. His nomination would be a sign that Trump is serious about foreign policy and that he’s not afraid to make enemies of the right people.
Paul Ryan should be made Secretary of State for three months and then fired after his Seat in the Senate is filled by special election.
Gingrich should not be in anything.
Hismideas are just whatever the way things are going at the time. Hes a frigging populist and hes the embodiement of the dc establishment.

I know Bolton's name has been kicked around a lot, but he's done zero for the campaign where Newt has been in Trump's corner for quite a while. I'm just not sure I see him being picked. Maybe it's just a trial balloon?

Also, his Red Eye appearances make it hard to take him seriously.
But it's hard to say just who would make a good Secretary of State.

I think Trump will be like Lincoln. Do the job I ask you to do or I’ll fire you. (Jeff Davis had some bad people and might have won but he refused to fire anybody, no matter how bad they were.)
People will be selected on the basis of their overall qualifications
and fit for the job, not your personal preferences or ideology.

I hope this is the approach Trump takes and being an outsider himself
helps him take that position.
I’m cool with Bolton- a little more of a NeoCon than I’d like but I trust Emperor Trump the First to keep his court eunuchs on a short tether.
Bolton would be a quality choice for State, I think.
