I can’t believe some of the fat, easy, slow pitches right down the middle that Trump didn’t swing at. Clinton opposed Heller, but supports an individual right to bear arms? Clinton’s one issue where she thinks government has no say is preventing children from being murdered by late-term abortion? And when she complained about Putin stealing e-mails, how did he not suggest maybe she shouldn’t use a server in a bathroom closet, or leave her cell phones lying around? He seemed barely alive for the first few rounds.
When he woke up, his facial expressions were brilliant. He nodded at attacks that had some basis in legitimate differences of opinion, so when he smirked or rolled his eyes or shook his head at lies, it was as effective as interrupting her.
What’s very encouraging this morning is that I think her gaffes were so obvious that he didn’t even need to pull the trigger. He won the debates the first two times, but got destroyed in the post-debate social media and fact-checking. This time, all the buzz is about her stupid flubs and silly lies.
But those are details that political junkies recognize and even if they were driven home it would not change committed voter's minds.
I think he won in the undecided demographic.
What were her biggest stupid flubs/lies? I’ll look for them if/when I decide to watch this thing.
...”she complained about Putin stealing emails, how did he not suggest maybe she shouldn’t use a server in a bathroom closet..”
Didn’t she actually accuse Trump of “espionage” and conspiring with Putin against America’s free election process? I nearly dropped my face. Her handlers schooled her, the best defense is a good offense, so just lie and accuse Trump of her own crimes.
Actually using the word “espionage” took mighty big cajones.
I was listening on the radio; it seemed like the audience laughed in astonishment. Still, Trump should have come back with, she’s the one guilty of espionage and treason, and repeated she should be in jail.
He did make these points, but in a roundabout way, not the full force and fury I hoped for. Many LIVs may not have known what he was talking about. Hilly’s lies were just fabricated of whole cloth, and tied up neatly with a bow for LIV consumption.
The biggest challenge to a candidate who doesn’t have media on his side, is trying to educate voters about the true basic issues, while fending off false charges at the same time.
