Oddly, didn’t McCain face an identical issue in ‘08? Apparently, he was born off base in the Canal Zone. Some felt it made him not eligible to be POTUS. As I recall, there was a suit to keep him off the CA ballot, and a resolution of the Senate deeming him a natural born citizen.
Last I checked, McCain is ( and was in ‘08) a white guy. Were the claims of being born “elsewhere” racist as applied to him?
