Debate: Media in desperate frenzy to sell the idea of 'Hillary's big win'
Canada Free Press ^ | 09/27/16 | Robert Laurie

Pssst! It didn't happen.

If you’ve tuned into any of the big news outlets this morning, you’ve no doubt heard some talking head yakking about “Hillary’s big win.” If all you heard were the mainstream reviews, you’d think Clinton crushed her opponent in one of debate history’s most epic beat downs. They’ve basically gone wall-to-wall with tales of their queen’s decisive victory over an unprepared dullard.

The thing is; if she really did that well, they wouldn’t need to be work so hard to sell you on it.

OMG.....He did exactly what needed to be done last night....Did you see any of the online polls. This is precisely what happened during the primaries. People would complain about how Trump did or did not do this or that and the electorate loved him

He made Hillary look like the buffoon she is. She is not good at the riposte or the bon mot....Her ‘zingers’ fell flat. Trump used one (I will release my tax returns when...) and the crowd went wild

didn’t go after Hillary on her emails

I think it was a good call. It was a bad call for Bernie though.

I believe you are exactly right...You don’t fire all your ammunition in the first battle...

Trump didn’t...Clinton did...

The problems I have with that are that the first debate probably had the most viewers as a lot of people just aren’t that into politics, and a lot of people are making their decision and voting early.

An objective conclusion is Trump did not do his best.

He failed to take several opportunities to pursue her problems.

I think his strategy is to improve in the 2nd and 3rd debates. I hope.

I agree. It was very frustrating watching Trump miss a couple of opportunities where he could have hit it out of the park. He needs to do a better job of preparing for the remaining debates, including mock debates with someone who will not pull any punches. He shouldn't memorize his lines the way Hillary did, but he does need to be ready to respond to anything she throws at him.

I don't think he was intentionally laying low with the thought that he will really come out swinging in the next two debates. Last night was probably the biggest audience of the three. If you have a chance to put your opponent away the first time out, then do it.

I’ve seen seven online polls so far. Trump is winning in all seven, from a low of 55% (Time) to a high of 82% (Drudge). Most of them have a million votes or more (almost two million for CNBC).

“Trump should have done better. He was disappointing because he was not aggressive enough.”

Trump did just fine, and the post debate polls show it.

He was the same man who trounced multiple opponents in 11 primary debates. Genuine and real. She was the over-prepared, juiced up, memorizer bunny, sounding like a typical political hack.

Trump accomplished what he needed to accomplish last night. He came off presidential, and that’s all that matters.

I think that is accurate. From a base perspective, he did fine, as in he didn’t blow it. But, at least I ,was coming from a perspective where I was expecting/hoping for him to kick the shit out of her at the debate and that did not happen. So a let down of expectations, but not a disaster.

I did though. What they are saying to me is that Trump displayed micro aggression against Hilary as a woman. Hilary was calm and he, like the man he is, interrupted her. Not me saying this, just family and friends.

Could be sour grapes, but I am interested in that idea as well. She was ready for every answer. Especially the stuff where she accused him of not hiring blacks.

My take from social media, where most of my contacts are family and friends who are very liberal. “Trump interrupted her too much.” “Trump committed micro-aggression on Hilary”. “Hilary remained calm while Trump browbeated her”. Looks like they are leaning towards to “bully, anti-woman” theme on Trump.

To quote Scott Adams (Dilbert):

“By tomorrow, no one will remember what either of them said during the debate. But we will remember how they made us feel.”

The first debate probably had the most viewers but the undecideds are the ones who have the concern about Trump being a bully.

He came across in a not full attack way which likely plays better with the more wishy-washy voters.

He can hit his issues harder later when the debates are more likely to be viewed by those who are more current on policy issues

I would not worry at all. They would vote for Hillary even if Jesus was on the other side. Use of terms like micoraggression show they are brainwashed idiots. Trump swayed the fence sitters and which is all he needed to do. Their opinion means nothing as they only preach to each other.

“These people act like we don’t have internet and we believe whatever they shovel still.”

The demographic which still uses the MSM as its primary (even sole) source of information, is a fast shrinking minority. Most in that segment of the population are over 65.

The vast majority around the world, now get most of their information from the internet, which is why the political establishment in this country is so hell bent on giving control of it to foreign internationalists who will censor free speech out of existence.

On the charge of being a racist, Trump should have eloquently told the story of Mara Lago.

He sued the city, whose charter barred Jews and Blacks from playing.

He won “Big League” and even sent a copy of “Guess who’s Coming to Dinner?”.

These charge of racism are asinine and erode the value of bigotry.

“Roger Stone wrote that perhaps Trump didn’t go after Hillary on her emails, etc. because he was trying to win over the undecideds by not appearing mean.”

Et tu, Roger?

I don’t know why people keep repeating that distortion. After Hillary said that, “using private email was a mistake”, Trump shot back that she deliberately set up an illegal server, and that her aides have all pled the 5th when under questioning.

People act like he just let it slide, when he didn’t.
