I am reading his books now. He used to be an activist for Kerry and Obama. His research indicates that this difference is worldwide and throughout all societies.
And that conservatives not only understand libs better than vice versa, but are more balanced in their moral foundations.
Watch the TedTalks video.
“...they cant understand why the outcomes of their decisions are bad.”
That’s just it, though.
Libs don’t connect their own Cause to the Effect their policies create. When their policies inevitably fail, it’s always because, ‘the wrong people were in charge’, or, ‘those nasty conservatives obstructed our good works every step of the way’, or some other nonsensical excuse.
They never analyze what happened, using their simple powers of observation, and fact based reasoning.
Watch the TedTalks video. Well worth the 15 minutes to understand this.
a conservative insight is that order is precious, difficult to achieve and easy to destroy. (quote approximate)
American conservatism conserves freedom - the ability to change, to do a job other than what your father did, for example. For freedom to be efficacious, there needs to be reward for accomplishment. Society naturally does this. Government, in the liberal vision, breaks down that reward system. You didnt build that is equivalent to saying, I do not recognize your right to own that.
In the liberal vision, somebody else made that happen - and they are right. Somebody else mentored the businessman, somebody else built the road the store goes by, and so forth. But it is SOCIETY - not government - which did that.
Unless there’s a foundation for Judeo-Christian morality, it’s impossible to have a discussion with a liberal. They don’t believe this country was founded on these principles, in my experience anyway. You can’t even move forward unless you have that.
Everyone who has checked this out has thanked me.

I don't think it is "feeling for others" that is so important to them. That is just a cover for "feeling" that they are superior to the rest of humanity and can therefore make the rules for them and tell them how to live. It's the arrogance of considering themselves better and more important than the masses. Being, in Thomas Sowell's word, "anointed" to decide what's best for all of us.
This is seen by them as a path to power and wealth, but that is something they can't openly admit, of course. So the "feeling for others" is a cover for the greed underlying their actions. The liberal media reports on the feeling and not on the real motivation.
Watch the video!
He is a liberal how eventually converted. Try to listen to the whole thing without rushing to judgement. You’ll thank me, I promise.

Ah, mais qui! I hope I didn’t imply they actually HAD feelings. It was not my intention.
Everything is based on how we view the world.
Libs have a harm/care view, which is needed for mothers to rear young.
Conservatives have a broader basis to make decisions on. Needed in ancient times to relate to other hunter gatherers.
Moral Foundations Theory explains this.
Yep that’s right.
In my research I go into areas that are so obscure no one’s really published anything on it. I am pretty addicted to finding new areas of knowledge and new experiences in that sense.
I just don’t think that such new knowledge should be allowed to override common sense. And that’s where I part company with liberals.
If it ever occurred to me (and it wouldn’t) that two men could get married, I would first ask myself how people have dealt with it for the ca. 5000 years that we’ve been on earth. And when I discovered that it was a fringe practice that tended to bubble up in the decadent phases of civilization, I would conclude there was something innately problematic about it that prevented its wider spread.
Liberals just don’t think this way. They have a sense of arrogance that “Well, those people in the past were just dumb! We can correct their mistake!”
And then they go ahead and make those mistakes. Over and over.
So I do disagree with the author in this sense. A healthy mind needs to balance stability and change, but they have to relate to each other correctly. You must be open to change where change is *necessary*—like if the rainfall pattern shifts in your area and you have to develop new methods of farming or herding or whatever. But otherwise, who are you to think that the basic principles of life can be toyed with at will?
It sounds from his talk that his Moral Foundations Theory is pretty much what Christian theologians and the Founding Fathers termed “The Natural Law”: the law that is written into our hearts from the time we are born.
It would be VERY good to see this idea come back again, because I talk to people about it and they look at me like I have three heads.
Tell them that the real power in this nation is in the hands of conservatives, and what they are going to get is not going to be a progressive Utopia, but will instead become a bloody civil war, which will be won by Conservatives.
Just as Europe's embrace of migrants is fueling a massive and bloody backlash, so too are Liberals pushing people to the point where they are going to snap and start solving problems with physical pushback.
You can also tells them that the one thing the US Constitution requires to be equal is the application of the law.
Therefore all legal services should be socialized and all lawyers should be paid by the government so that the rich may not obtain an unfair advantage by hiring a better Lawyer than the one provided by the government.
Apply their socialist preferences to themselves, and watch them disavow socialism. At least for themselves.
And this is pretty much true and accurate.
Change comes from personal experience, not abstract theoretical discussions.
Muggings teach liberals something new about crime.
Regulations of their freedoms teach liberals about liberty.
Press lies about their personal lives teach liberals about media bias.
It’s ironic that the legacy of the Hegelian/Marxist products of the rational Enlightenment, is a mindset that gives primacy neither to Ideas (Hegel) or material circumstances (Marx), but to emotion and feelings (Rousseau).
Which is why fact-based argument does not avail with “today’s liberals” (who reject almost everything true liberals stood for).
Liberals = FEELINGS
Conservatives - LOGIC
This will explain why the plans the liberals make never work out .. they never follow the logic of what they’re doing .. to see what the possible outcomes might be.
But, a person like Trump .. deals with LOGIC. His plans always work out, because he follows it through to the end of the project - and the building always is wonderful .. LOGIC and PLANNING .. things the liberals and THEIR FEELINGS never take into consideration.
