Man, sometimes I have had it with our society! I went to a lot of trouble to make some really beautiful cheeseburgers for lunch today. I toasted the buns, I sliced the onions and shredded the lettuce. I flavored the hamburger before and during cooking.
But I also put ketchup on them.
At my first tasty bite I was repelled by the overwhelming taste of sugar, an obscene amount of sugar. I was horrified. The burgers were ruined! I rushed, gagging and choking, to the fridge, grabbed the ketchup bottle and read the label. 4 GRAMS of sugar, per serving!? It's ketchup! A serving is like 8 or 10 grams. 4 grams!?! It's like tomato flavored bubble gum. YUCK!
Does anyone know of any brand of ketchup that is actually ketchup and not tomato based candy?

My wife and I enjoy having "pizza burgers": cook a burger, put some mozzarella cheese on top the last minute so it melts onto the burger, then pour some tomato sauce on top.
Next step up for you is gravy on your fries.
Slice some tomatoes.
Cats up?
Another treat is blue lake cut green beans with parmesan cheese and malt vinegar.
Fig Catsup
Yield:
About 2 cups
Ingredients
1 pound fresh figs, quartered
8 ounces Roma tomatoes, quartered lengthwise
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup sorghum syrup
1 teaspoon Thai-style chili paste
1 teaspoon coriander
1 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 fresh bay leaf
Salt
Might be horrible without sugar - - nothing to off-set vinegar... try adding more figs...

The tomato is a fruit and fruit tastes good on ice cream.
Haiku:
Tomato is fruit
and fruit is good on ice cream
Forgive me, but no
Good!
My mother put mayonnaise and ketchup on our hot dogs. Never, ever mustard.
Yes, the Midwest.
Thanks for my shopping list tomorrow. Hamburger onions, ‘maters, rolls and A-1. Yum.
For some reason that reminded me of this picture:
I read Israel recently banned Heinz from calling their product ketchup there because it’s about half corn syrup. They do make a low sugar version, but it costs about 4 bucks a bottle. Do a search for “low carb ketchup” and a number of brands will come up.
There are some gourmet (expensive) ketchups that are really delicious. I have found some at Whole Foods. Small bottles or jars but yummy. Grocery store typical brands are pretty bad. You need a small brand where there is pride in their ingredients and taste. Sir Kensington is not bad. There are even better.
Yes, but believe it or not avocado ice cream is delicious.
My haiku was fully meant to invoke that image.
And for that I apologize.
I’ve heard garlic ice cream is, too. Until I try it my fave remains Coffee.
