The List of Ping Lists |
A while back I rented the first season #1 DVD from Netflix and couldn’t get into it at all. I tried again a month or so ago, now completely hooked. Watched the first season and bought the first 5 books and am half way thru the second book.

Do yourself a favor and stop after book 3. The quality went way down after that and the TV show is now better than the books.
I second that notion. I managed to finish book 4, but didn’t like it. I found book 5 impossible to get through.
didn’t know you had a thread. I saw the first three seasons via DVDs.. not in position to watch the program for a few years
Did read the “heavy duty” books prior to the HBO showings..
Happy Memorial day m_f
Luckily for you, you did not have to wait 7 years for book 4 to come out (absolute drek). I still think I am going to whiz on Martin’s grave, even if he slightly redeemed himself in book 5.
Last night was good. Any episode without Ramsay Bolton is a pleasure.
However, I find King’s Landing to be rivaling Dorne as far as irrelevance goes. It’s boring and pointless.
I’m worried about Arya’s longterm situation. My feeling is that crossing the Faceless Men is a gambit that might potentially succeed for a time, but not forever.
Edmure Tully is such a total loser that if the folks at Riverrun have any brains, they will kill him at a distance and remove him as a bargaining chip for Walder Frey.
I’m waiting for the three dragons to be reunited.
That’s funny
It appears that Jamie’s Mission-to-Dorne last year only delayed his Riverlands campaign. Could be interesting, and they are bringing Bron out of mothballs once again.
Was more like it.
I think this has been my favorite Episode since the end of the Season 4.
So Many Good things.
Benjen Stark is back.
I knew Randyll Tarly was a Huge A-Hole, but that was a perfectly awkward family dinner.
The Blackfish is back! Yay!
Now I see where all the budget went they saved by killing off the Dire Wolves, Drogon and a Brief Cameo of Sean Bean ain't cheap kids.
I am confused on the timeline with Margaery though, last we saw her, she was telling Loras to stay strong, now, only a few days later (?) She is properly indoctrinated and has Stockholm Syndrome? Or She is faking it? But she converted Tommen (But then that isn't to hard converting a 15 year old boy with a super hot older woman)
Surprise, Cearsi's Plan didn't work.
Again.
Wow she is such a Bonehead.
Yes, I don’t really think Margaery is being sincere in her new devotion to The Seven. More like tactics.
If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em; then beat ‘em with a vengeance.
The story is racing along at this point, probably because the show is now beyond the books and is not limited by GRRM’s endless layering. That’s not necessarily a good thing; personally I like the books better, though GRRM could use a tougher editor. YMMV. The intrigue of the early books and seasons was the complexity, but the scriptwriters are now simplifying at a breakneck pace. Are they still planning two more seasons after this one? At the current pace, one more would more than suffice.
Oh please, yeah the show is better than the books. Not.
If I had to guess, I’d say that Margery is faking it, to get Loras out of the dungeon. I’d guess that Tommen is clueless and has been converted easily in order to agree with his very religious wife. He can be unconverted later after he finds out that his wife is not very religious.
Just guesswork, of course. But Margery is known as a keen player of the game. I think she has figured out a few things, just like Sansa has figured out a few things.
Next week: The Broken Man.
I’m thinking that the North will retake Winterfell and Ramsay will die. Ramsay has no family, no friends, no wife, no child, no claim to the North, no real claim to Dreadfort. Anyone with a brain would want him dead. My guess: Jon and Sansa show up with an army, Ramsay is immediately stabbed in the back, and the gates of Winterfell open.
I read all 5 books twice.
You guys are just weak.
Cersei is basically Hillary Clinton with a smaller overbite.
I have been avoiding these threads due to potential spoilers.
I like to let several episodes pile up and then binge them OnDemand. I am caught up now.
Good season, so far.
I am also binging House of Cards Season 4 since the real election season has kind of cooled down.
I was late to watch the first couple of seasons of GoT, as I didn’t have HBO. I would have to wait for the free preview weekend and binge. Now I subscribe, so I can was the current seasons as they are shown.
