Some of you may remember my Proud Poppa Alert last week about my son. Well, The military made him re-take the ASVAB to verify that he didn't cheat on the one he took last week. He scored higher this time. He scored 147/150 on the GT and 149/150 on the mathematics.
He became a US Marine 2 hours ago.

They are actually considering Intelligence or crypto-liguistics. I think those encompass language schools (I think). Besides he already speaks 3 languages along with some Russian and German.

Congrats. Not to diminish your boy’s accomplishments, but He isn’t a Marine until his Drill Instructor puts that Marine Corps emblem in his hand at the end of Recruit Training. On that day he will have earned the title Marine. On that day myself and my fellow Marines will welcome him into the brotherhood.

Yeah, he told me that. But you don’t know him. He sets his mind on a goal and it’s as good as done. He would have to get mangled in a car wreck in the near future to mess it up.

He reports in October. It was the first slot available, at Perris (sp?) Island.

Yeah that is what I was thinking of...I had that offered to me as my ASVAB's were good (though not as good as your son's), I chose Avionics because I was interested in electronics...lead me to an MSEE degree. Did your boy get off the Island yet?
