Gauntlet thrown
Surely you heard this past weekend about the Obama threat to withhold federal education funds from states who dont immediately embrace Obamas transgender bathroom policies. The current shell game of collecting money through the IRS and then sending it back to the states in the form of federal aid is merely a way for the federal government to dictate to the state how they must operate. Its certainly not a new phenomenon, either. Remember the nationwide 55-mile-per-hour speed limit? That was never a law passed by Congress. It as a gambit of Jimmy Carter to deny federal highway funds to any state that didnt play ball.
Typically, states meekly capituate to these threats because they dont want to lose the funds. Obama knows that perfectly well, and figured he could use the threat of withholding federal funds to force his transgender bathroom agenda on the entire nation.
perfect! Getting and KEEPING the Fed out of our schools is a giant step in the right direction
getting the feds out of nearly everything is a step in the right direction.
At the first opportunity we need to pass a federal law baring presidents from unilaterally threatening to withhold federal funding if states don’t do ______________.
And let the little children starve. Apparently the federal funds are for the free school lunch program. No funds, no free lunch = children starve.
I remember when Jimmy Carter created this department. It was just supposed to coordinate among the various state education departments to collect data and provide it to everyone and enforce certain civil rights matters like desegregation of schools. It has grown into a monster and now Obama has turned it into yet another weapon in the arsenal of Liberal Social Justice and the war on traditional moral values. Any expansion of government is twisted into something evil. This department needs to be shut down.
And don't forget the LGBT children as well! They'll starve, too!
So in order to make sure tannies can pee where they want (as if they arent already) our pResident is willing to withhold funds to schools that would provide for things such as food for poor kids? Okay
Here’s a novel idea.....why don’t the states just stop sending their Fed taxes to DC? Then they will have the money the state needs. I mean, this money was in Texas to begin with wasn’t it? Isn’t it Texas money that’s just being laundered through the Obama Admin?
Just get rid of the income tax. Make the feds beg the states for money instead of the other way around.
End the extortion at the root.
Texas is like a “whole ‘nother country.’
Exactly, What about ‘the children’? The whole thing is damaging to ‘the children’. I’m not hearing this angle from the Pubbys.
Obama wants the children to starve! He’s cutting the budget that feeds Texas school children! (If Obama were Republican, that would be the headline.)
Can u imagine the feds operating without the funds from the States!!!! What would they do? Oh wow, the media would have a fit too. It would be worse than the gov’t shutdown.
Go States Rights!
Need to reduce the size of government by about 90%, that would be a great start.
I like what Texas is doing, I’ve been watching for some time.
I may get a work visa and go so some electrical, then if I like it, see about moving family down.
It’d be good to be around like minded folks.
Exactly. Obama hates children.
Too bad the states can’t keep the dollars sent to the feds, too.
Hey States!
What a great way to get out of those wasteful programs like forced-busing, common core, Title IX, and a whole bunch of other garbage that burn through cash and causes endless frustration.
In other words, just say NO, and it’s a dead issue.
BTW: Still waiting on the Hilldabeast to weight in. Sometime before the Dem Convention would be nice...lol
We don’t want your money, and you hate our state anyway. So GFY!
