Cruz’s performance left me underwhelmed at his skills - he went to an Ivy league? Then I realized he worked for the govt most of his life. Good enough for govt work, I guess.

I've been staying away from these Trump threads as much as possible lately. The reason being is I believe that Shillary with all her political experience will devastate Trump in debates with her decades of spinning, parsing, redirection, misleading, avoidance, and outright lying. Poor in-articulate Donald who just repeats himself just seconds later will be out-matched. I wouldn't be surprised if he stuck another foot in his mouth during their debates.

I'm wondering if you watched any of the Republican debates. Trump is so effective because he does the opposite of what others do. He wins debates exactly because he doesn't sound like a politician. Everyone who watches debates ASSUMES that politicians are lying through their teeth when they talk in politispeak. They assume the opposite with Trump. Trump will smoke Hillary because ALL she knows how to do is parse, spin, lie and talk political speech.

I would like to enter your conversation for a quick comment, if I could.

I supported Ted Cruz, to the point of donating to him when he declared last March. I thought Trump to be a clown when there was rumor of him declaring in late May, and I hoped that he wouldn’t. However, Trump won me over, and Cruz lost me for a variety of reasons.

That all said, I would vote for either of them, or any of the other 15 Republicans in the race, over any Dem - there is simply no question about that. I can look beyond the intra-family squabbles (and it DID get very immature, on all sides), and see the big picture that this country simply cannot afford another Socialist one-worlder; in fact, we have to go hard in the other direction, especially with debt reduction and how our kids are educated about this country, or we’re done.

My read on Cruz: well, I’m an attorney, though not a litigator. I can truly appreciate his brilliance and his many accomplishments in the courts. My feeling about his shortcomings (we ALL have them, no matter how accomplished) is that he’s just never lost anything of importance to him before. He didn’t - and still doesn’t - know how to accept that he didn’t win, especially given the extraordinary amount of time and effort he put into the campaign. He is also more geared to an academic style of debating than the more free-style street brawl type of debate that Trump is accustomed to being in and winning. Trump has about 25 years on Cruz, and it showed - he just out-strategized Cruz. Once Cruz didn’t win most of the South on Super Tuesday, I knew that it was over - and Cruz should have, as well. He’d have been very able to work out a fantastic deal at that point, and the Party would be thoroughly unified by this point. FYI, Trump is no intellectual slouch at all (how else do you turn a $1 million loan into a couple $billion before inheriting anything?), just not a bookworm type of intellect - his is a practical intellect.

I regret that the 2 of them got into such a bad squabble - Cruz would’ve made a great Veep for Trump, and would have not only been able to steer Trump a bit more to the Right, but also to prepare to succeed Trump and finish off the entitled class and the Socialists. Can you imagine 16 years of these 2 guys in charge? Oh, well, it simply wasn’t fated to be.

But now is the time to forget about our in-house squabble - it is over, and we all must concentrate upon defeating Hillary and the Dems. THEY are the domestic enemies that the Founders spoke of - they have been engaged in a counter-revolution against the principles and the nation that the Founders bequeathed to us. Let’s face that circular firing squad in the other direction.

"You are closed ears or eyes because he’s addressed all that you wrote!"

Wrong, I've heard Donald weakly address the benefits of capitalism. You are not getting my point. I want an all out brawl between Shillary's (failed) socialism ideology and Donald's (successful) free enterprise ideology in their upcoming debates rather than making promises. The time has come for someone to prove to America how capitalism/free enterprise without redistribution (charity notwithstanding) has made the World better.

Sheesh, I can't count the number of countries that have emulated our system since our inception. The Donald need only point out that there not been ONE socialist, communist, totalitarian government that has ever worked. Hopefully, he'll also point out in the debates that the USA has highest corporate taxes in the entire world, which he has done at his rallies.

We're actually on the same page; I just want OUR page to be presented in a way for low info voters (LIV) to understand the benefits of our original system before the Dim bleeding-hearts screwed it up. BTW, when is the last time you heard about the increasing "homeless"? Not from Obambi's news sycophants.

The brawl won’t happen until Trump gets his 1237. Right now he is getting his team together and planning his general strategy. He’s keeping the beeyatch at bay for now. The current labor force participation rate right now is 62.8 so redistribution will continue for some time to come. Don’t want it to be that way but just fact until a work ethic re-sweeps America.

His words not mine: .@realDonaldTrump candidacy could set up the ultimate cage fight between unapologetic capitalism and bitter angry america hating socialism.

So OK & sorry for the snarky post to you earlier:-)

Again his words: Trump said he would cut the top tax rate for all businesses to 15 percent from the present 35 percent if he became president at the November 2016 election.

“We have an amazing (tax) code. It will be simple, it will be easy, it will be fair,” he said of his plan, promising “major tax relief for middle income and most other Americans.”

"Statesmen don’t do stunts like shut down the govt - they make political deals -"

Wow! That sounds just like a GOP elite fan and you claim to be an outsider Trump fan. GO ALONG TO GET ALONG is what our fedgov should be about? Cruz didn't shut down the government (which I had no problem with - the less the better), Obama refused to sign the bill. Get your facts straight.

Jim, these are the guys you support while kicking others off your forum? I've tried to be gracious about Trump, but this Trumpinator comment is beyond the pale. Really? Make political deals? That is exactly what Cruz was fighting against and why he got no support from the GOPe.

Veterans for Constitutional Restoration was a waste of my time and money. Now THIS is a waste of my time. Before you get your panties in a wad I will repeat one more time...I'm voting for Trump against Shillary. And no, I'm not submitting an Opus. But then you can kick me off if you think I've insulted Trumpinator. I no longer give a sh*t and sorry I got into this mix.

For about the umteenth time, I don’t give a rip about who individuals vote for. But if you think you’re going to have as free hand on FR to piss on our FReepers or on our nominee, then you’re not thinking straight. If trying to save our country is a waste of your precious time and FR is a waste of your precious time, then just get the hell out! That attitude is less than worthless to America.

The proof is in the pudding. The GOP stood 16 “debaters”, most of whom had never had a job other than “serving the people” and studying GOP talking points. There was one man left standing at the end, and is was not Sen. Cruz, the Harvard lawyer and champion debater.

This election will not be about debate skills. Trump is not a debater in the sense we usually see, and people are quite happy about that. Romney was skilled, smooth, could discuss issues, and he got skunked. Same with Dole, same with McCain.

Trump breaks the mold, and people still don’t seem to understand it.

Yes, this is interesting! Apparently HRC and the rest of her harridans think that women are entitled to equal pay regardless of performance, and FURTHER they believe that everyone believes that as well.

The same HRC who pays her female employees 70% as much as males, on her campaign staff as well as at her criminal enterprise the Clinton Global Initiative.

I just pointed out you used the wrong term to describe Cruz. He is not a statesman (a diplomat). Cruz is an advocate - but he failed in his goals. Failure counts. We don’t get participation trophies - sadly his gambit shutting down the govt seems to have been for show because it accomplished nothing - I would have loved for it to work but it did not. That you have a poor command of English is not my problem but I thank you for your service to our country. Trump will do well by vets like you.

Allow me to make a point or two, which challenges both of you, on Donald Trump's debate skills. I believe that he can absolutely destroy Hillary, or Bernie or Joe Biden--if Biden ends up the Democrat nominee; and that he can do that on economic issues, social issues, historic or cultural issues, all within the framework that he has already established.

First of all, understand that the TV debates have all been structured for the benefit of the media talking heads, not the candidates. You cannot in 30 or 60 seconds discuss an issue effectively. What you end up having to do is make a very, very brief emotional identification with people who are concerned about a particular issue.

When Trump has more time, as in his recent address on foreign policy, he not only develops a position on particular aspects of policy; he plugs it into an absolutely winning narrative. He puts "America First."

Stop & consider how everything we Conservatives stand for can be easily--and very effectively spun off that focus. The Capitalist argument flows directly off of that. Maximum individual freedom to succeed, to accumulate, build on & pass on the fruits of your labor is what capitalism is all about; it is one of the major premises that the America we put "First," is all about! Pick any serious issue, it flows from the same heritage--the heritage that made us the envy of the earth; the heritage that Trump has promised to restore.

Just what can Hillary, Bernie or Joe answer? Will they babble about "income inequality?" The answer to a red herring, based upon the PC bullies effort to suppress the obvious truth that everyone does not have the same aptitudes, is easily delivered once you reject the PC absurdity.

The fact is--it does not require a Harvard debater; it is easily verifiable--that over and over again, in the American tradition, every diverse group that ever came here--in the days before the Left messed up our functionality; everyone who ever came here as a recognizable group sample, did better here than their ancestral cousins had ever done in their ancestral homeland.

Does Hillary, Bernie or Joe have an answer. If they do they have not yet demonstrated it. No one has.

Donald Trump has already set a theme by which he can absolutely wipe up the airways, with the discredit faux pundits. He needs to stand fast and go on with the agenda he has already set!

Like I said, I've tried to be gracious, but I'm not a Trump supporter - although I will vote for him. You didn't need to be so harsh as I was only stating my opinion on a political opinion board. You know damn well better than to question my patriotism. Goodbye and best wishes to you and your family.

My take on Cruz is that among many other negatives he does not have the temperament or personal gravitas required for being a strong leader. He exudes arrogance and over zealous adherence to a cult like religion. He has accomplished basically nothing in his first term as senator. Cruz is simply not ready to be the leader of the free world. 75$ of the GOP voting base realized this.

Trump is famous for making deals. He has written the definitive book on the subject, but more importantly, he has built a multi-billion dollar real estate empire by means of his deal making prowess. He didn’t do this shuffling money, underselling options, crashing other peoples’ accounts. He did it the hard way in recognizing valuable properties, developing them, and then nurturing them to produce.

THAT background says that we should give him a chance to make deals.

It is entirely possible that he could have bargained on those funding bills and deadlines and come up with something that others couldn’t.

I’m willing to give him a chance to try.

In my mind, he CANNOT possibly do worse than our current crop of republicans who went BACKWARD. They weren’t even able to stay even.

Give him a chance, Navy Vet. Hold your fire until you see him perform.

My take on this is that it is dangerous to classify Cruz as ‘not ready’.

While that may be true, it is critical for our nation’s survival to recognize which politicians are Globalist tools, and which ones are nationalists.

Cruz’s positions and actions were, over a period of time, carefully constructed to fool many conservatives into thinking he was their conservative “savior”. In reality, he was and is a fake, fraud, and phony, a globalist firmly entrenched with the Bush clan, who, in turn, are firmly entrenched with the Clinton clan.

Like DJT says, unless we can name the enemy, we will not defeat it.

The head of the octopus is Globalism. It has many arms, of which Cruz and his GOPe backers are but one.

I wish I could remember which Freeper it was who came up with the best phrase:

“Get behind Mr. Trump or get out of the way. We have a nation to save!”

Clarification:

When DJT talks about naming the enemy, he is referring to what he calls “radical islam”. I am lifting his phrase to apply to the content of my post.

What part of “he does not have the temperament or personal gravitas to be a strong leader” confused you?

I am not confused, GG2.

Temperament and personal gravitas, while certainly important in a successful candidate, did not relate to the content of my response concerning his globalist nature.
