Starbucks is opening its first cafe in Ferguson, Missouri. It is contracting with local and minority firms. It is teaming up with a local non-profit.
Starbucks certainly has the best of intentions.
What the actual results will be will up to the people who live in the community.
Will they treat this Starbucks the same way that people in most neighborhoods treat their local Starbucks?
Or, will they smash the windows, loot it, and burn it down?
Only time will tell.
I think we all know the answer to that question

Yeah....Okay Star Buckin’ lemme know how it works out with the EBT/WICs/SNAP crowd how your overpriced Latte’s are gonna sell. Also are you gonna do away with ‘vente, grande, and pissimo’ for something more cultural? You know like “Bigass gulp”, etc.?
Two to one they’re gonna subsidize the prices and MAKE that store a success.
And they don’t drink Starbucks coffee either.
One wonders why anyone does ...

It’s a puzzlement to me too.
Over priced lattes - hey, something to steal during the next riots.
That girl is sure gonna be busy writin’ some funky names on the cups. Lotsa fun to be had here on cup names in that situation for those so inclined!
Once on a thread about coffee, we researched different outlets and found that Starbucks made the most cups per pound of coffee, but charged more.
Corporate store or franchise? Probably a corporate store.

Starbucks should have opted to open their first private contract Supermax prison in Ferguson.
Much better chance of success, fewer broken windows.
Starbucks should have made the store mobile,constructing it as a self contained unit in a large semi trailer.As soon as the natives get restless,move it out of town.
Protect the stockholder’s investment.
Their over-roasted stuff is really not drinkable. They serve overpriced, high calorie, coffee flavored dessert drinks.
Good luck with this one. I don't see how it can work.
Here in Tulsa, a guy tried to open a grocery in the Black community. He was very successful with 9 other stores, and he wanted to give back to the community. After 3 years he had to close the store. Shoplifting was the preferred method of payment.
Nothing says “we care about black people” more than selling them an overpriced addictive substance that’s bad for their health!
I want access to the surveillance cams’ DVR for review.
This example shows how totally disconnected limo liberals are from the poor. A poor person is not going to buy an overpriced latte.
Worst of all, those same liberals pat themselves on their backs and feel good about themselves and brag about it at their cocktail parties all the while it does absolutely nothing to help the poor and inner city families.
What could go wrong?
