I used to have a “Fresh Air” child visit every summer from Harlem. He loved the air of the country and the sweetness of our family, friends and community but was scared to death of the water, bugs and critters when he first came. He did not know how to swim, so our swimming pool, rivers, creeks and lakes were a danger to him.
My sons were older than him so they kept him safe as he explored the wet lands and forest with them. They each had a cheap, disposable camera to shoot photos of wild life and if they got excellent captures, I would blow up the picture and put it on their bedroom walls. They taught him to swim and to do some rescue, too, since no one in his family knew who to swim. They taught him how to use a canoe and how to fish. It’s a whole different culture.
He told me about life in Harlem compared to his experience with us in no uncertain terms. Harsh. Boring and dangerous for a boy. Mean. He wanted to live with us all the time and would cry when his visit time ended and he had to return home.
City life for kids is not all it’s cracked up to be. But it is clear why Blacks don’t visit national parks at the same rate as do whites. Blacks are mostly city mice; not country mice. Liberals pretend city life is superior.
That’s probably the kind of thing they’d come up with! But, as somebody said, it’s probably hair issues.

That place is fantastic...we stay at the Malaga Inn when we can in the old rooms and they recommended it last year
We also love the Grand Hotel at Point Clear...I have kin close by and lived right next door to the place both in the Hunter House and the Luce House in 74/75
That would be where I would live now if I had a million plus for a waterfront property or back on Weeks Bay or Fish river with a little open fisherman
We stay in Mobile about twice a year to spend the night before weekly rentals in season at south Walton
That interstate 10 and 65 corridor crawls on Saturday and Sunday’s during season when nearly a million people move in and out of the beach strip from Dauphin island to St George island
I suppose Obama will respond to that somehow -- African-Americans are his biggest constituency -- but the idea isn't something he actively came up with himself.

However to be nice, Although I have not been on the mall recently, Previous frequent trips left me with the impression there are many more black folks there than in the average national park or monument.
The news sparked considerable discussion online, with questions asked about why and how an American college student {Obama} would have visited Pakistan at that time and what he would have done there.
I'm more amazed that Tapper would show any interest than that Obama went there in the first place.
Or even mention it at all -- hardly anyone else did.

Obama must wake up each morning and ask “What well-functioning entity can I ruin today, and what uncontroversial act or status can I politicize?” Progressives never ever stop. This year they even managed to stir up controversy (remember, they started it with a local ordinance) over going to the bathroom.

People like what they like, and don’t like what they don’t. Why does it matter so? I thought conservation was the primary motive behind the creation of national parks. It’s good that some appreciate this and visit, supporting the parks with admissions fees and concessions. For those who don’t, what of it? It’s just exasperating, this push to make any difference between this or that group some sort of contentious issue.
The racism behind these concepts that blacks should be taught to appreciate the same things as whites is astounding.
