I feel I need to break my silence on the Trump vs Cruz supporters

I feel I need to do this. This is tearing us apart like the state tearing a father away from his children during a divorce. I don't visit the DUmmies, Kos Crazies or the Huffingstuff Post because for one, they're insane, two, I like my sanity, and three, the websites are poorly designed, though that's mostly DU.

They're probably laughing hysterically at the civil war everybody is having, because this election did far more than they could ever hope to achieve. This is far worse than the 2008 and 2012 elections. We knew we were getting screwed either way, and held our noses to vote for the establishment candidates.

I was originally for Cruz when he first announced. He spoke intelligently, and I liked what he had to say. When Trump announced, I thought "what a novel idea, someone that has actually created jobs running for president. This should be interesting." At first, we thought Cruz and Trump would work together and maybe join each other later on as a president/vice president ticket. Then, as I guess is predictable, the mud flinging began.

Over time, information began to come out showing Cruz's history. It showed him as a regular politician with a shady past. Now most recently the allegations that Cruz has had multiple affairs.

Trump has had affairs while married, but he admitted to those. He didn't keep them secret.

I've noticed that our civil war has waned a bit, but that Mason - Dixon line we drew in the sand will probably not go away. Anybody on the other side of the aisle that pays attention to this site has been laughing themselves to tears. We need to stop throwing punches at each other and return to the civility we had before Cruz was the first to announce.

I frankly despise Cruz, but the story behind that little exchange is that a kid gave him a drawing and a donation, and he handed it to a campaign worker.

Here’s what you need to do: fight for your candidate, keep your fight clean but tough, and just ignore the nutjobs, obsessives, liars and paid shills. Answer their lies with facts and citations, then get the heck away from them.

You can’t listen to other people’s negativity after you have given them the accurate information with links. Some of them will never change because they are brittle, shallow, rigid, fearful or even evil. Others might think about it offline and come around in a few days or weeks, but just won’t be able to respond immediately.

So say your piece boldly, positively and factually, or even with humor, and then go on to the next thread. Your work is done there!

I don't believe any of the mud slung by either side. It's all tabloids trash. Cruze was bucking the GOPe in congress and standing up for the Constitution long before the ramp up to the election. He is hated by the GOPe, just as Trump is.

I'll have no problem voting for either one come the general election. It made me sick in the last two elections when Freepers sat out the election because they didn't get their way. They gave us eight years of the current socialist bastard and ruined out country.

There are things that need to be discussed no doubt. But as the nominee is decided
hopefully things will settle down and the focus will become defeating the democrat.
God help us as we don't need another 4-8 years of that party.

I'm not sure just how divisive this campaign has been to the general public. Here
on FR it's been a dog fight but others in the past have been also.

With Trump in the race, I think it would be inevitable that it would get to this level. I'm amazed Cruz has not sunk to his level. It must be exasperating being called Lyin Ted every day, and the guy seems to suffer no backlash.

In fact, just using the affairs as an example the original poster seems to think Trump is the more moral for admitting his many affairs that led to two divorces over Cruz who vehemently denies ever having an affair with not a single woman claiming he has. How people can fall for Trump is beyond me. He brands people with insults and they think he's the victim.

Ask Nikos1121 or PJBankard to put you on the Trump Family ping list and they will notify you of every upcoming rally thread. Those threads are “caucus” threads for enjoyment of the candidate, and people who do not support Trump are not supposed to get on there and try to debate — that’s for news threads. The Rally threads are for enjoyent of Trump’s candiacy.
