I feel I need to do this. This is tearing us apart like the state tearing a father away from his children during a divorce. I don't visit the DUmmies, Kos Crazies or the Huffingstuff Post because for one, they're insane, two, I like my sanity, and three, the websites are poorly designed, though that's mostly DU.
They're probably laughing hysterically at the civil war everybody is having, because this election did far more than they could ever hope to achieve. This is far worse than the 2008 and 2012 elections. We knew we were getting screwed either way, and held our noses to vote for the establishment candidates.
I was originally for Cruz when he first announced. He spoke intelligently, and I liked what he had to say. When Trump announced, I thought "what a novel idea, someone that has actually created jobs running for president. This should be interesting." At first, we thought Cruz and Trump would work together and maybe join each other later on as a president/vice president ticket. Then, as I guess is predictable, the mud flinging began.
Over time, information began to come out showing Cruz's history. It showed him as a regular politician with a shady past. Now most recently the allegations that Cruz has had multiple affairs.
Trump has had affairs while married, but he admitted to those. He didn't keep them secret.
I've noticed that our civil war has waned a bit, but that Mason - Dixon line we drew in the sand will probably not go away. Anybody on the other side of the aisle that pays attention to this site has been laughing themselves to tears. We need to stop throwing punches at each other and return to the civility we had before Cruz was the first to announce.
Meh. Happens every four years and people always forget how bad the last primary season was.
Read the posts. I am not saying no one criticized you but there is far more coming from the Cruz side. No one needs to be called names because of the opinions on either side.
You politely pointed out your disagreement without calling me names. That is how it should be. We can disagree as we clearly do, but I don’t think you are an idiot as I have repeatedly been called by Cruz supporters.
The meeting that Cruz first attacked Trump was on December 11, 2015. Trump had never spoken negatively about Cruz before that. It was the “behind closed doors” aspect that most upset me. It seemed sneaky and dirty.

George Bush was said Reaganomics was all “smoke and mirrors” ...yet Reagan chose him to be vp.
They will kiss and make up....at least it would behoove Cruz to, since he is losing and the GOP doesn’t need to worry about Texas. Cruz might get a Supreme Court seat and Trump could let that become a rumor, thus showing he was listening to the Cruz Crowd.
But Trump would do better getting someone who could get him a State we don’t have now. Probably .....
This one seems particularly bad. We’re also reeling from two terms of an America-hating president.
Imho, this is the most important election of my lifetime to date.
Libbylu got zotted yesterday or the day before, if I recall correctly.

“Anybody on the other side of the aisle that pays attention to this site has been laughing themselves to tears. “
That gets posted a lot, and I don’t believe it’s any worse than it usually is for the simple reason they have their own battle going on. If Bernie was younger and a little easier on the eyes Hillary would be in Cruz’s spot.
If Trump wasn’t in this race, the tone would be completely different.
amazing that anyone worries about ‘tone’ in the bloodsport known as politics...
I hate it when they pick a VP because they’re supposed to “help” in a certain area. It’s like an endorsement. How do you quantify that? Not you, just sayin.
So, lemme see, here, Trump admits to multiple affairs and adultery ... so it’s okay.
Cruz is falsely accused of an affair and he’s doomed to the hot place?
Oh please, I so wish many of you weren't stuck on labels but you are.
I only thought liberals and democrats were the ones stuck on labels until this primary election. That's why you see, not all, but many blacks and liberals only vote for democrats because they are so stuck on labels.
It's not that much different here where some of you see is just the label of conservative when it comes to Ted Cruz. If you'd even have watched the vetting played out here at Free Republic, he dumped those conservative principles for helping the corrupt GOPe disrupt this primary when Ted Cruz has very little chance at the nomination outright.
Maybe Ted Cruz WAS a conservative but with how everything has played out with his campaign, I question if he ever was. A conservative in name only.
Conservative is just a label that so many of you have fallen hard for and many of you can't stand to see Ted Cruz vetted, probably for THAT reason. WAKE UP! It's just a label, it doesn't mean it is true or not.

I am fairly active on FB and I have told all of my friends there, in no uncertain terms, to leave me OUT of their Trump-Cruz flame wars. At this point, I still give Cruz a slightly higher rating than I give Trump, but I will most definitely support Trump if he wins the nomination. Frankly, I am already tired unto death of this campaign season and the bloodletting going on in-house. The only teeny-tiny consolation I can see is the Democrats have their own problems and are unlikely to be doing much gloating at this particular time.
Plus, Trump is repeating Ann Coulter’s lie about Reagan’s supposed unpopularity. Totally proven false.
I agree.
Well, I guess it’s all a matter of whose ox is gored! I was attacked over and over again by a lot of Texans who were insane on the subject of Rick Perry back in ‘12. Some of them are back in the form of Cruz supporters. I wouldn’t mind but those in ‘12 were out to ban anyone who didn’t think that not only was Rick Perry a genius, he was also a mighty hunk straight out of a Marlboro commercial. I felt otherwise. Now, that, to me, was nasty!
I loathe all vanities. This one is no worse no better than average. It achieves nothing and makes no salient point. Unless maybe you are running for 10th grade hall monitor. If so you are too young to post on FR.
The Trump team and its surrogates have driven a massive, unprecedented smear campaign against Ted Cruz that is damaging our system of free and informed voting. Integral to this campaign is an immense dissemination of slanted news and untruths over the Internet.
Emblematic of this initiative is the epithet Lyin Ted, which Trump has not only used over and over in speeches, but has tweeted countless times.
Since Trump has over 7 million Twitter followers, this reaches a very large audience. As a result, his supporters firmly believe Cruz IS a liar and spread the epithet further around the Internet though Trump has provided no backup for the slur.
Also significant are Cruz hit pieces published in once-reputable news outlets. A number of them were penned by Trump ally and trickster Roger Stone. These skirt reality, or drift over the line into utter falsehood.
If Trump wasn’t in this race, guys like you would be shilling for Jeb or whatever candidate the Cheap Labor Express shoved down the people’s throat.
Father Cruz has also been implicated in the Lindbergh kidnapping and the shooting of Lincoln.
