Maybe this is yet another reason to say God save the Queen: dozens of Leonardo da Vinci’s anatomy drawings, so far reserved for those who visited Buckingham Palace, have been carefully digitalized and made available for you, lucky internaut.
But besides this collection of the beautiful, intricate and detailed drawings and sketches of the Italian Renaissance master, along with his notes and observations, the Royal Collection Trust has also launched an iPad application that compiles the whole 268 pages of the da Vinci notebooks.
This is no coloring book, but you might enjoy trying to copy some of these!
Ping!
KRAMER: I been reading this
book, on Leonardo de Vinci. See, that means ‘from Vinci’, d’you know that?
JERRY: (deadpan) That must be some book.
KRAMER: Yeah, well, turns out that the master slept only twenty minutes every
three hours. Now, that works out to two and a half extra days, that I’m awake
per week, every week. Which means, if I live to be eighty, I will have lived
the equivalent of a hundred and five years.
JERRY: Just imagine how much more you’ll accomplish.
Jerry was a Master of The Understatement.
I never saw the show when it aired, but that little vignette was funny.
I still have the book I bought fifty years ago.
WAIT! Are you telling/showing me that all the way back in Leonardo’s day, they considered an unborn child to be a HUMAN BABY inside the womb of it’s MOTHER?
*GASP*
And yet, people can’t grasp that concept, today. *Rolleyes*
Thanks NYer. Y'know, these can't be authentic, I bought all of his drawings a few years ago on eBay, got the whole works for $22 plus shipping.
Insightful and true. One of my favorite scriptures is Luke 1:44. Another wonderful scripture is Jeremiah 1:5. God shares the gift of life with us. Children are a blessing (until they become teenagers... Just kidding).
Oh, Yes. Raised three boys of my own. Actually, having once been a teenage girl myself, it was easier raising the boys! Just keep them BUSY (and outside) at all times!
My Dad claims I went into my room when I was 13 and didn’t come out until I graduated from High School and then moved out, LOL!
Very cool - thanks for posting this.
I’m currently reading Leonardo The Artist and The Man ISBN 978-0-14-023175-5.
I wouldn’t say it’s a “must have” book but it’s pretty good and I really appreciate the author’s approach to the topic and writing style.
Not sure how many years of lurkdom I’ve had but had a heck of a time remembering my password just to comment here.

Appreciate the effort. There's a nice museum in Vinci, Italy, with working displays of Leonardo's inventions. You can visit it HERE.
Thanks again NYer.
