Published a year ago on Coach is Right, this is a story which bears repeating
The left will do anything to abolish the private ownership of firearms. And the emphasis is on anything. After all, politicians cannot safely exercise absolute, uncontested authority over an armed public. And the majority of our nations ruling class--yes, Republicans included--yearn for such power; in part because it will bring an end to those annoying constitutional rights which prevent lawmakers implementing what they know to be best, but mostly because these self-infatuated mirror-gazers believe dictatorial authority to be their due.
The question is, how can it be accomplished? How can more than 300 million firearms be separated from an estimated 100 million owners?
With some it will be easy. When Connecticut passed into law its knee-jerk response to the 2012, Newtown murders, some 50,000 Assault Weapon owners dashed to the nearest police station, eager to be among the first to sign away their freedom by registering their rifles with Governor Malloy. Courageous custodians of liberty such as these will be a snap to deal with when it comes time to confiscate their-or more properly, the States-property.
But what of the estimated 300,000-400,000 Constitution State owners of black rifles who refuse to play toadie to a would-be monarch? How can Big Brother intimidate these or other American gun ownersfor example the estimated 1 million New Yorkers who have defied the states Safe Act-- into registering their firearms so that the coming end-game of confiscation might be facilitated? Isnt the outright use of force likely to result in that shooting war weve heard so much about?
Well, not if a majority of Americans follow the example set by Assault Weapon owners in Maryland and Virginia.
During the 2002 killing spree by the D.C. Snipers, police recovered .223...

Please don’t shoot the messenger.
Same with CCW folks who proudly post their dutiful compliance.
I suggest a fictitious transfer program, spiderwebbed, private sales.
Since it is proven that federales cannot find islamists, run a healthcare program, track government covert bequeathed firearms, the tracking of 3000,000,000 private transfer, after the NICS data becomes obsolete, the spiderweb might be five years old before they begin to figure out the first actions.
In states with mandatory registration, it would be good to hold a few back.
file a police report that all your guns disappeared while you were on vacation (even though you haven’t found where they are hidden in the garage)
You want to be in possession of a bunch of stolen firearms? After having filed a false police report?
Perhaps you might rethink that plan.
Imagine the anguish and gnashing of teeth in newsrooms around the country.when Mohammed and Malvo were arrested. No white guys in a white van! Aaarrrrghhhh!
The coverage disappeared real fast and I don’t recall a TV movie.
Allahu akbar anyway
The NY “assault weapon” registration law has a 4% compliance rate.
Hillary need be asked how she’ll deal with a 96% national non compliance rate when she institutes gun registration.
You can’t be found guilty of stealing from yourself.
“You want to be in possession of a bunch of stolen firearms? After having filed a false police report?

Better to buy new, or nearly new, variants of all of your guns from friends, and sell your old ones to finance the purchases. In fact, just do an exchange with your friends (and/or trusted family). That way ALL of you then will have unpapered firearms without having knowingly filed a false police report. The latter will not only get you a record, a big legal bill and possible jail time, it will earn you a revocation of your right to vote and your RKBA. Not exactly the wisest move you could make.
But you CAN be found guilty of knowingly filing a false police report.
I would have been among those who invited the police to go get a warrant. Respectfully, of course, but without backing down.
Ben Franklin was asked at the end of the Constitutional Convention whether we we getting a republic or a monarchy. His response: “A republic, if you can keep it.” Apparently, if it were up to most of our idiot fellow citizens, we are about to lose it.
It’s not false if you simply misplaced the firearms. You can simply note you were being very careful.
Try that and let me know how it works out.
There is a very simple way to get your guns off paper without even coming close to violating the law (in most states), so why not use it and avoid the problem altogether?
Because I am tired of staying in this defensive crouch.
Let’s just me and the authorities freakin’ dance already.
[[ The left will do anything to abolish the private ownership of firearms.]]
It’s not just the fact that they are trying to abolish them- but they’ve already made it a crime to use them in self defense- sure, you can own one, but try using it to protect your life- in your own home, or out in public if the need should arise
and heaven forbid you don’t have a trigger lock on the gun, in a locked vault, buried beneath 12 feet of cement and inaccessible to everyone but earthworms-
no but you can sure beat hte hell out of yourself for stealing from yourself
I’m tired of our oppressive government, too. But going it alone gets you in jail or “Finicumed.” Sometimes just being the Gray Man - along with millions of others - is the best plan. Civil disobedience by one’s self may be courageous, but you get little more than some time in the Graybar Hotel. The same done by millions every day gets change done. Look at what happened to the 55 MPH national speed limit...millions voted with their right foot, and it is now an unpleasant memory.
