I am a Southerner

I am a Southerner...

I won't apologize I won't be reconstructed. I will not surrender My identity, my heritage. I believe in the Constitution, In States' Rights, That the government should be the Servant, not the Master of the people. I believe in the right to bear arms, The right to be left alone. I am a Southerner... The spirit of my Confederate ancestors Boils in my blood. They fought Not for what they thought was right, But for what was right. Not for slavery, But to resist tyranny, Machiavellian laws, Oppressive taxation, invasion of his land, For the right to be left alone. I am a Southerner... A rebel, Seldom politically correct, At times belligerent. I don't like Lincoln, Grant, Sherman, Or modern neocon politicians like them. I like hunting and fishing, The Bonnie Blue and "Dixie" I still believe in chivalry and civility. I am a face in the Southern collage of Gentlemen and scholars, belles and writers, Soldiers and sharecroppers, Cajuns and Creoles, Celts and Germans, freedmen and slaves. We are all the South. The South...My home, my beautiful home. My culture, my destiny, my heart. I am a Southerner...

It’s not hard to find pics of Battle Flags on American equipment in WWII. Guess you never bothered to look before excreting that bit of nastiness. Probably comes natural to you.

Eisenhower displayed the pictures of Lee and Jackson in his White House office. Patton is descended from CSA officers. So call them Nazis while you’re at it.

his mother is going to talk to him to.

we take this moving to a southern state and not @#$$#ing it up seriously.

my other nephews, besides their accents, would fit right in. Except they’d be begging someone to teach them how to shoot!

Maybe so but it wasn’t done.

It was done to limit the power of the Southern states in the House. As others have noted, it very likely would not have been possible to gain ratification without it.

If the folks in the south would have picked their own damn cotton this country would be a lot better off than it is today..

If the folks in the south weren't exploited by taxes we would be a lot better off than we are today.

90% of the federal revenue came from the south. Is that fair?

The rules are the rules even if they're not fair. /s

As bad as Morris Dees is, and he’s bad, he didn’t buy and sell other human beings. He didn’t use child captives for labor and his own financial betterment. He didn’t steal the wages of other men or make concubines of their daughters.

The South murdered it’s self over slavery. Even today you will find pockets of people who refuse to acknowledge the pain and suffering it caused, the utter degradation in brought upon both races.

I’m a southerner. My forebearers have been here since 1725. And I’m as old as the hills now. Old enough to have been at the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert at Legion Field when Wayne Perkins played barefooted.

I’m just no longer of the opinion that the abject misery and human cost of slavery needs to be whitewashed.

To me, that’s just like people who deny that Hitler murdered 6 million News.

“To me, that’s just like people who deny that Hitler murdered 6 million Jews.”

Yeah, well then you would likely agree with what Marx and Engels wrote about the American South during the Civil War. They hadn’t heard of Hitler of course, but they were as moralistic and eager to condemn as you are.

The British offered emancipation twice during the Revolution, the Dunsmore and the Philipsburg proclamation. So looking back do you side with the Crown over the Hitler-like American patriot slaveowners?

The Adults on my Wife’s side of the Family are the same as your Nephew. I’m talking People in their 50’s and 60’s.

They simply refuse to listen and honestly answer when I pose the same questions to them.

I tell them it isn’t a question coming from a Conservative viewpoint (Me being labeled the Resident Crazy Right Winger in the group LOL), it would be considered the type of question coming from a Libertarian.

They believe what they believe. I tell them that the Unconstitutional Action by the Supreme Court eviscerated the 1st and 10th Amendments and all I get from them are shaking heads and eye rolls. You know, here he goes again.

Never mind the issues impacting Freedom of Assembly and Free Speech. We see a Nuclear Bomb destroying the Constitution and they see Rainbows and Unicorns.

I’m arguing on the side of slavery being a moral wrong. What is it you are arguing?

Also, the Civil War was like most wars, fought by the poor to benefit the rich.

I love my South, but I can’t gee haw with the depth of degradation that slavery wrought and act like it was all about states right.

When the state believes it has the right to do what was done to other human beings, as what was done to slaves, then the state is wrong.

“I’m arguing on the side of slavery being a moral wrong. What is it you are arguing?”

I want to see how consistent you are in your moralizing.

George Washington was one of the largest slave owners of his time. You have been equating slave owning with Nazism. I want to know if you are willing to label Washington a proto-Nazi.

“Also, the Civil War was like most wars, fought by the poor to benefit the rich.”

That was certainly the opinion of Marx and Engels. Their Civil War commentary reads like today’s neo-abolitionists.

I feel secure in saying that slavery is just as wrong for George Washington to benefit from as it was for anyone.

I’m pretty attached to the ideal of a man being paid for his labor, instead of George Washington reaping the benefit of slave labor.

I don’t think it was right for Thomas Jefferson to get his slave girl pregnant.

That’s just how I see it. Your mileage may vary.

So quit evading the question. You equate slave owners to Nazis. George Washington was likely the largest slaveholder in his day.

Is George Washington equal to a Nazi? Or are you conveniently making an exception for him, as most neo-abolitionists try to do?

“I don’t think it was right for Thomas Jefferson to get his slave girl pregnant.”

And you know that this was not the child of his nephew how, exactly? Or any of the other Jefferson males carrying the same DNA marker in that time and place?

Brainwashed youth

Toss in some estrogen enhanced Kumbaya

A dash of white privilege and guilt

Stir with strawman straws for a generation

Voila!

What do you get?

The Jefferson pregnancy story is something of a canard. It was “some” Jefferson family member that impregnated Hemings, but there is no proof that it was Thomas.

What is it you are arguing?

Pelly is a neo-confederate. From his commentary one can't help but deduce that they could do no wrong, and he'll split any (and every) hair necessary to rationalize his POV.

Fortunately, your POV is prevalent among Americans and his is the outlier.

The question is, was it right for George Washington to steal the labor of other men? Was it right for him to sever children whom God gives, and sell the child of another to put money in his own pocket?

Is it ever right for an enlightened man to profit off the slavery and misery of another?

I’ve recently completed a study of the available evidence and I firmly believe the evidence proves that Thomas Jefferson fathered the children of Sally Hemming.

She NEVER got pregnant when Jefferson was not there. His relatives lived miles away and did not have access to his concubine.

As Jerry would say, “Thomas, you ARE the father!”
