[ ... Trump with his pragmatic real-life record is a far more palatable national figure than Ted Cruz, whose unctuous, vainglorious professions of Christian piety dont pass the smell test. Trump is a blunt, no-crap mensch, while Cruz is a ham actor, doling out fake compassion like chopped liver. Cruzs lugubrious, weirdly womanish face, with its prim, tight smile and mawkishly appealing puppy-dog eyebrows, is like a waxen mask, always on the verge of melting. This guy doesnt know who the hell he isand the White House is no place for him and us to find out. ...]

The money quote!
She didn’t mention Wally Cox-ish voice.
I don’t want to go to Salon but I agree Donald Trump is a mensch who has used a bit of brashness to save himself millions of dollars in ads, which I think is fair and smart.
Per contrast, see Bush, Heb!, who wasted millions to slide down to bottom place.
And as for Cruz: I have spoken to many people about him, and no one likes m. Except people who are politically blind and see only that his supposed religion matches theirs. But plenty of deeply devout Christians also see him as phony. The eyebrows alone, when he does that thing with his face: he raises his eyebrows and makes a sad droop for a mouth and thst is supposed to be his holy pity face. I love religion and I hate when it’s used to trick people. Sorry. I feel he is not who I thought he was before the election. DEMONSTRATE BY YOUR LIFE your religion. Don’t hit people over the head with your piety and demonstrate small-mindedness instead.
Quietly Trump helps individuals. He puts on a reality show that is, in the end, all about charity. No other show gives that kind of money to helping people who need help. I have heard and read stories of his private generosity.
At my father’s funeral this week, I met a man from DC who is a military bigwig (and voting Rubio at the time). He told me he has met Cruz and he knows people who work with him, and though he doesn’t like Donald Trump, he does say that he is right about Cruz: no one who knows him likes him. He is unpleasant and has very low social skills.
At least Trump knows how to make people feel comfortable with him, get them to trust him. Our very lives may depend on our leaders’ ability to negotiate (and to know when not to negotiate but to command). I don’t think Cruz has that ability at all.
If Cruz is the nominee, he will lose to Hillary because he doesn't have broad appeal outside the evangelical, right-wing of the conservative base.
Trump, on the other hand, for all his faults, has a much broader appeal outside the Republican base. He can pull votes from the middle, left and right to win in November.
And this is the one reason I support Trump for the nomination. I believe he alone can beat Hillary in November but I don't think Cruz can.
Of course, all of this could change if the RNC and GOP mucky-mucks decide to dirty-deal at the convention and after a big, wet kiss to make-up, they will give the nomination to Cruz as their new guy. They've already gone through Yeb Bush and now Marco Rubio. Or they'll try to push Mitt Romney, a two-time GOP loser, to the front of the line and offer him up as a shiny-new version who can beat Hillary, as well.
None of these ploys will work. Only Trump has the stature and huevos to meet Hillary head on and beat her on the stump and in the polling booths come November. By picking Cruz or Romney at the convention, the GOP will be alienating all of Trump's supporters and will be shooting themselves in the foot again trying to get a president elected from their party.
Neither Bill nor Hillary Clinton have ever given a speech or answered a question without first filtering the contents through polls, focus groups, and various PR advisors. The difference is that Bill could deliver the material in a natural-sound way, which his worse half cannot do.
Trump's authenticity will be his ticket to beating Hillary in November, since even most liberals don't like her enough to turn out and vote for her (many Sanders supporters have said that they wouldn't). Come to think of it, the only people enthusiastic about Hillary's candidacy are geriatric feminists (their younger versions prefer Bernie).
The left thinks Trump is more beatable then Cruz. Expect more “analysis” like this. Nothing from Salon is not politically motivated.
I had to look up lugubrious, lol.
Congess calls DT and others in to fix the economy in 1991
Watch it all then ping your comments

Paglia is probably one of the five or fewer bull dykes in the world with any real intellectual honesty, or anything interesting to say. The rest of the lot sound like Hillary Clinton speechwriters.
Regardless, with the GOP establishment being cheered on by former male prostitute Jeff Gannon (not to mention the party being infested with closet case legislators like Dennis Hastert, Larry Craig, Mark Foley, etc), complaining about a lesbian who has good things to say about Trump doesn't carry much weight.
Love her or hate her. When have you ever heard a prog admit to being wrong. Camille is a principled Liberal. Maybe one of its kind.
Wow, judgemental or what?
If this video from 1991 is significant, then shouldn’t his 1999 video where he claims to be “extremely, 100%” pro abortion be at least as significant?
Yes. And also for not warning others as watchman when an attack is on the way. Vote 100% pro-life and against the abominations that are legalized no matter the cost to you. Why make a deal today for a bowl of stew when you lose your inheritance. Even DT would understand that it is a bad deal.
Just watch it
LOL! You must be a Trump cultist. Can't debate the facts, so resorts to veiled threats.
“Paglia is probably one of the five or fewer bull dykes in the world with any real intellectual honesty...”
At times.
I told you I WILL DISCUSS after you watch it. JIM Robinson said it stop the name calling
That is NOT the topic for discussion: not your side comments or alinsky methods. You and everyone else knows that Trump admittedly changed his opinion on abortion and is very open about why. Abortion has nothing to do with Trumps opinion of fixing the economy or his TONE that you were complaining about. The 1991 video from CSpan shows his expertise and professional side. Watch it.
WOW, does she have a way with words, or what? Amen
Why on earth would anyone read further than that?????
In the Cruz world, I am not suppose to understand this.
