That’s what .44 or .357 magnums are for!

If you have never gone wild boar hunting with a bow, you haven’t lived.

Feral hogs are a big problem is South Texas. I see packs of them quite often. They are shot on sight.

I’ve heard they aren’t that wonderful to eat either, because of the flavors imparted to the meat by their own food. But they could be great cat or dog food, I’d think. Purina Cat and Dog Chow hunting squads, that would be an idea.

Hunters be careful with these pigs, lest your prey hunt you. The animal kingdom strikes back.

Bow hunting these dangerous creatures at extremely close range without at least a sidearm is nothing less than foolhardy.

BTW it’s not the bite you have to worry about....It’s being gored with their large bottom tusks.

They can rip a bone deep gash in your leg from ankle to knee.

Hunted them on horseback and on foot-- double armed-- 44 mag rifle with 357mag and 44 mag pistol backups. It is a thrill to hear them in the bush. They still hunt them on foot in russia near polish border, and they are huge. Course we had hogzilla in GA-- the guy who promoted the story said the hog got into his "secret" fish food stock (what a salesman- Ken's Fish Hatchery). 793 lbs. in the pine scrub Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A friend of mine went on a guided hunt in California, to hunt wild boars with a .357 Magnum revolver. He said his professional guide carried a 12-gauge loaded with slugs.

They’re getting more and more common in parts of southern Indiana now.

In one of the clips, the guy whacks the boar over the head with what looks like a pizza box. That was a bad idea. That and a few of the clips where guys try to grab boars bare handed.

Safety tip. If an animal has tusks, they’re not just for show.

When I was a kid living in the Philippines, they had wild boars there, and I knew enough to avoid them. Got treed by one once walking home alone.

Fortunately for me, my best friend’s father ran the SERE training at Cubi Point for the US Navy, and instilled in his four children a healthy respect for them, which rubbed off on me.

Some of the people in that video seemed to have no respect at all for those creatures. You can get killed and ripped up by them.

Friendly police officer in North TX recommended the AR-10 for pest control. I’m inclined to agree.
