I am, says Erick Erickson, and he's not alone. One of the chief coping mechanisms from righties on social media this weekend upon surveying the destruction in South Carolina was to swear they'll never be a Trumpist, even if the heavens fall. I believe Erickson, but I'd also bet cash money that 90 percent of the people saying "HELL NO NEVER HAPPEN" today will grudgingly come around over the next eight months upon being reminded, not on a daily but on an hourly basis, that Hillary Clinton is a pathological liar who'd be in prison if not for her status as the creme de la creme of Washington's elites.
I'm not saying conservative revulsion at Trump isn't real. It is, and I think when it all shakes out in November that Trump will have seen more Republicans stay home for him than stayed home for either Romney or McCain. But I don't think there'll be a third party and I also don't think that some sliver of conservatives staying home will doom Trump's candidacy. Given Hillary's weakness and his own appeal to independents and Reagan Democrats, it's possible that he'd find the votes he needs to win in the center. That would be the final indignity to the conservative movement after having its impotence laid bare for more than a year -- staging a mass boycott of Trump on election day and discovering that Trump can win anyway...

Trump is by far the worst candidate I have ever seen get this far in a Republican primary. I have voted for every Republican since my first vote, for Nixon, in 1972. At this point, I would need an industrial-strength clothespin on my nose in order to vote for Trump. I don’t know if I could do it. He would really have to go some to win my vote. If he were content just to play at being President, to satisfy his ego, and turn over the real-life governing to some actual conservatives who know what they’re doing, that would be a step in the right direction. Trump would have to persuade me that he would be less bad than a Demonrat, and then on November 8, I might possibly pull the lever for him.
He’s gone now.
Wonderful news! That was one nasty troll.
Evidently you slept through the unqualified disaster that was the Presidency of one George W. Bush.
I can live with Trump or Cruz. Not Rubio. Can’t see others making the cut.
Trump is not my first choice. I have a lot of concerns about him, and I’d probably still have a lot of concerns about him as a candidate even as I would pull the lever. But if he *is* the nominee, I will take the gamble on him over Hillary or Bernie any day of the week. Absolutely. Clinton is incompetent and Sanders is a fool living in his little pipe dream reality. Whatever else Trump may be, he’s neither incompetent, nor anybody’s fool.
There is a very keen and savvy mind behind Trump’s bluster and public persona. I think Trump would step up and perform well on the economy and border security if he were President. I also think he might be a better diplomat than one would expect. Everything else, IMHO, is a crapshoot. Especially on social issues.
I find it interesting:
That most of the people who are saying NOW, that they won’t vote for Trump if he is the nominee, are the SAME people who complained for the last six months of 2008 and have complained regularly for the last 3 years and 3 months since then, that people who didn’t get fully behind Mitt Romney are the ONLY ones to blame for 0bama winning and the current destruction of the nation.
Yet THEY now do what they have been harping and blaming others for, for nearly four years.
Hypocrites.
I’ve had debates with you in the past. If you really believe that about Trump, then you shouldn’t vote for him. All I can say at this point, is that I think you’re totally missing what Trump is about. It’s your decision to make, but I hope you keep an open mind and consider that maybe you don’t have Trump pegged like you think you do. Trump is very unique. People are too quick to use the usual templates to try to understand what motivates him and where he’s coming from.
Ever notice this about EE’s face? Punchable.
Please, go over to the Mark Steyn thread and read the depressing article as well as all the immigration stats in the thread.

And then vote for the guy with the wall and the stopping Muslim immigration. Maybe he will even have an effect on education, which is deadening our children’s ability to even consider conservatism.
Great essay by Steyn, but sad enough to maybe motivate some Trump haters to consider it as a step back toward our country.
>>>(Hillary) is a guaranteed disaster, the other (Trump) is a potential disaster.
I get your bet. But...
Healthcare? Both disasters.
Big government, both love it...
Immigration? Both end up with amnesty, one builds a wall first.
Constitutional separation of powers? Push.
Economy/jobs? Ouch.. Trump is a biiig gamble, scary bad.
:)
People have been zotted quicker for far less, if my memory serves. Earlier he DEMANDED that I vote for Trump.

You need to get off the Cruz kick and acknowledge Donald Trump as our nominee.
Until you do, everything else is trivia.
Will you vote for Donald Trump in November?

We heard the same crap with Dole, with McCain and with Romney.
It doesn't fly anymore.
And neither does your vote.
Too many of you refuse to comprehend how elections work after a velvet coup.
So who I vote for in November is completely irrelevant.
The Ruling Class will crown their Dear Leader.
All of this is just for show, so you plebes don't get visions of uprising in your heads because the narrative is - 'this is how Democracy works'.
Noticed him a while back. Shoulda flagged him then.
I need to trust my gut more.
Laz had that guy zotted on a Trump/Megyn Kelly thread after he posted anti-Cruz dildo pictures and was just not nice.
Good riddance.
You might want to reread the post you’re replying to.
I will vote the Trumpet over the strumpet anytime.
Exactly. The cure would be worse than the disease.
Oops, unless you meant that generally and not to the poster specifically.
It’s on thing to think Trump isn’t sincere in all of his current positions. To prefer to have a dangerous sociopathic socialist like Hillary become president over taking a chance that you could be proven wrong is just deranged.
