So, who’s staying home in November if Trump’s the nominee?

I am, says Erick Erickson, and he's not alone. One of the chief coping mechanisms from righties on social media this weekend upon surveying the destruction in South Carolina was to swear they'll never be a Trumpist, even if the heavens fall. I believe Erickson, but I'd also bet cash money that 90 percent of the people saying "HELL NO NEVER HAPPEN" today will grudgingly come around over the next eight months upon being reminded, not on a daily but on an hourly basis, that Hillary Clinton is a pathological liar who'd be in prison if not for her status as the creme de la creme of Washington's elites.

I'm not saying conservative revulsion at Trump isn't real. It is, and I think when it all shakes out in November that Trump will have seen more Republicans stay home for him than stayed home for either Romney or McCain. But I don't think there'll be a third party and I also don't think that some sliver of conservatives staying home will doom Trump's candidacy. Given Hillary's weakness and his own appeal to independents and Reagan Democrats, it's possible that he'd find the votes he needs to win in the center. That would be the final indignity to the conservative movement after having its impotence laid bare for more than a year -- staging a mass boycott of Trump on election day and discovering that Trump can win anyway...

Stay home then. And get exactly what you deserve.

I’m voting, no matter who the nominee is. Who would stay at home swigging the beer and slinging the complaints? The same Dum-Dum Purists who stayed at home last time in 2012, refusing to vote for Mitt for some insubstantial reason, #1. “Because Mitt was Mormon”. So what? Not a good reason. There are plenty examples of Mormons doing and promoting good in society. Not everybody has to be the exact same religion, not in today’s world.

#2.
“Because Mitt seemed to support Amnesty at one time” Not a good reason either. I have recently concluded that all of today’s American politicians support some form of what can be labled as Amnesty. Yes, all of them on both sides.
#3. “Because the nominee ‘is not Reagan’”. News Flash, no body is. Nor should anybody pretend to be. R. Reagan was the best man for that time in American History. We have moved and away on from that page, far, far away.

It’s beyond retardation to allow a leftists to become president because of butt-hurt.
I am for Cruz 100% but will vote Trump if he’s the nominee.

Obama had the full consent of a Republican Congress since 2011... These whores for their donors, hold equal responsibility for Obama desolation.

Is anyone bothered by this name, allahpundit? What does he have to hide and why is he using this name? Townhall is a major news source, why is he using an alias? Yes, I can see a reply now: Freepers use aliases. True, but we are not in the same category as writers for original information websites for the most part. Just a thought.

I wouldn’t worry about that. I bet he switches parties within the first 6 months.

Exactly right.
If trump wants my vote he will have to earn it.

At the moment I don't know how that will ever happen.

I voted for McCain holding my nose.
I voted for Romney holding my nose.

I'll vote for someone I believe would make a good President this time.

Sanders isn't getting a fair deal from the dems. A lot of those younger Sanders supporters aren't firmly entrenched in a political ideology, just in an anger at the direction of the US and an extreme dislike for hillary's campaign and her involvement in the mess the US is in.

What's my point? They'll come on over and vote for Trump. Not for any of the wannabees....especially Cruz, it's too late to recover from the "campaign tricks" meme. If a few rabid Cruzers get all whiny and petulant, SO WHAT?

With over 60% disapproval ratings Trump has his work cut out for him. This joy ride through a fractured Republican primary will likely meet a massive slow down after he has alienated all but his loyal bots.

>>>”I will pick the disaster that loves America.”

A disaster with good intentions. That’s heartening. :)

I really doubt Trump’s loyalty is to anything but Trump. He’s sold America out supporting the folks that gave us Obamacare - for his own benefit. His history is not one of integrity for country.

Allahpundit and Erick Erickson stay home not just in Novemeber, but each and every Friday/Saturday night, dateless, alone, lonely, forlorn, losingly.

I’m all in for Trump.

If he doesn’t make it I will vote for the nominee whoever it is.

Here’s a hint Ted; that object has nothing to do with Ethanol or Star Wars. Your constituents will not be impressed if you start cracking thinly veiled jokes about it. I thought you were all done with Lobbying Goals anyway.

I believe both Trump and Hillary would be disasters as president. It's a pick your disaster question

Yeah, a popped bicycle tire vs. a planet-sized smoking nuclear crater spinning through space on fire.

Tough decision.

All those folks who refused to vote for Romney effectively voted for Obama

I'll counter that sentiment every time it's posted. Romney defeated Romney. The elitist refused to campaign for 47% of the vote. For some bizarre reason he backed off on the Benghazi issue. Don't blame the voters. Blame Romney.

Its a false flag campaign. The Democrats win. He’s dividing the base and the party while providing the Democrats lots of ammunition for the general election no matter who the nominee is in the end.

You expect us to vote for your guy but you won’t vote for Trump if he is the nominee.

Quite a double standard there.
