Going into tonightâs debate, Donald Trump holds a commanding double digit lead over Ted Cruz, and of course all the other GOP candidates. If he continues this pace, he will most certainly be the Republican nominee for president.
But thatâs actually not the most important victory.
The most important win comes in November, when America actually votes for the next president of the United States.
And to ensure we donât have another four years of damaging progressive leftist leadership, we need to defeat the Democrat candidate. The problem is, according to polls right now, at this moment, Trump ainât that guy.
Real Clear Politics presents theoretical head-to-head match-ups on the candidates in the general election based on a number of polls and the averages do not bode well for a Trump candidacy.
Against Clinton, Trump loses by 4.7 points. Against Sanders, he loses by 9.7 points. Here are the results for the other front runners:

No need to mention BS.
Totally insane. His sister is 79....why would he replace a justice who died with one the same age. So stupid of you to be this dumb.
Cruz your hero actively supported and voted for John Roberts. FAILURE!
Trump will not lay down like all the other
GOP lap-dogs have done.
Trump speaks the Truth, and he answers to no one.
Trump will get the job done.
As if anyone knew that Roberts would become a traitor. Name me one conservative Republican back the. Who opposed John Roberts?? You can’t because we all were for him. -JS
Complete rubbish!
Sure don’t believe the numbers..they’re “b.s.” When they show Trump losing, but she they show him winning they’re “the greatest thing, ever..”.
It won’t come nowhere near holding up against Trump.
Two small problems: 1) As in both IA and NH, we see that polls don’t matter, and Trump OVERperformed in NH, and 2) we already have some polls where Trump beats Cankles.
So, this notion is dead on arrival.
Polls are unreliable a couple of weeks before an election, but they are perfect 9 months out.
OK, got it.
Nope. Not this guy, his wife, his parents, his best friend, his sister or her husband, or about half a dozen of my closest friends. We will never vote for Trump.
Yeah well sorry a lot of us supported Roberts.
I guess West doesn’t want to be Trump’s VP either. ;d
Where to begin...
1. Roberts is one of the four Conservatives in the 4-4-1 composition of SCOTUS
2. Cruz was 33 at the time he was asked about the nomination (2005)... and they worked together successfully on Bush v Palm Bech County and Bush v Gore in 2000. What exactly would you expect him to say when a co-worker on a Conservtive cause gets that nomination?
3. Trump's utter lack of SCOTUS experience does not trump (pun intended) Cruz's vast SCOTUS experience, no matter how you spin it.
Totally insane. His sister is 79....why would he replace a justice who died with one the same age. So stupid of you to be this dumb.Learn to read, dunce.
I said "someone like" his sister.
Remember, he already said that he though his sister would be a "phenomenal" Supreme Court Justice. Who do you think he will call for advice if he finds himself in the position of nominating someone?
So much for Allen West as Trump’s VP. Not gonna happen.
Trump's idea of a good Supreme Court justice: his sister and Laurence Tribe.
Trump said Scalia was "too tough" on black people" because he supported Affirmative Action.
Trump claims he liked Clarence Thomas. But if he doesn't like Affirmative Action, he would like Clarence Thomas even worse than he liked Scalia.
The ONLY issue Trump has mentioned with regards to the Supreme Court is Affirmative Action, so I think that shows where his litmus tests will be.
TRUMP VOWS "FORWARD MOTION" ON GAY "EQUALITY"
I think the rightmost we could expect from a nominee would be someone like Breyer.
*** If a person cannot win the majority of their own party, they have NO chance to win the general election. ***
Quit showing Common Sense. It doesn’t fit the meme.
Any republican candidate is going to have a hard time against the party of free stuff and voter fraud. I think Trump has a better chance than the rest of the field for pulling voters from the dims.
#24 You are a flat out Liar.
Ted Cruz was not in the Senate when Roberts was nominated! So he had no vote.
Anything else you post on this site is suspect if you can’t get that right!
What a shame that they don't put the same effort into upholding the US Constitution.
