Trump’s Not a Conservative Icon, and I Don’t Care!
Canada Free Press ^ | 02/12/16 | Jim O'Neill

Posted on 02/12/2016 8:29:55 AM PST by Sean_Anthony

We the people have responded--to the disbelief and chagrin of the elites: "We love America, we think it is great, and you can take your global utopia and shove it where the sun don't shine!" God bless America!

Trump’s no conservative an’ I don’t care. Doo-da, doo-da. Trump’s no conservative an’ I don’t care. Oh de doo-dah day. Gonna run all night; gonna run all day. Trump’s no conservative an’ I don’t care. Votin’ Trump anyway.

To the tune of “Camptown Races/Ladies,” Stephen Foster (1826-1864) (Note: also works with “Trump’s not a liberal….”)

Trump is a philosophically unmoored political opportunist who would trash the broad conservative ideological consensus within the GOP in favor of a free-floating populism with strong-man overtones.—The Editors “National Review”

No bull - All points listed in that picture were trump's positions before he needed votes and you bloody well know it. Now that he's begging for votes, he's changed (and continues to change) his positions to suit his audience. He *SUDDENLY* became a republican for this election when he needed votes.

But I can understand your frustration having to defend trump's questionable, open-book, undeniably RINO/liberal, "NYC-Values" past. I can imagine it gets exhausting trying to come up with a new excuse that isn't as laughable as the last one you tried. You wouldn't happen to be one of the gullible voters he's pointing to in the picture? Or perhaps you just don't care that he's such a transparent RINO/Liberal chameleon and can't wait to see how he stacks the Supreme Court with "NY-Liberal" replacement justices every chance he gets? And those jokers get appointed for *life*!

I thought changing your mind was ok? Maybe these weren't his fault! Remember....”Neither does it matter whether he was in favor of TARP, assault weapons restrictions or anything else. Those were out of his hands anyway.”

Why do you hold Cruz to a standard of flip-flopping but give Trump a pass? Why is ok for Trump to be for Affirmative Action? Or suggesting that Universal health care is the “non-Republican” thing to do? Or telling anyone who will listen that he donated to Liberal politicians to advance his private empire? I'm pretty sure most if not all of his supporters despise Buffet, Soros, Zuckerberg et. al. for doing exactly the same thing.

So he got hoodwinked by McConnell on TPA.....lesson learned. The YES vote on the Corker bill was done after he tried to get cloture on the bill. He felt he would be able to delayed an approved bill. Senate speak sure, but that's the way it works whether you like it or not.

Politics costs money. Always has, always will. Just because Trump can fund himself (more power to him) doesn't mean everyone else can. You get credit card opening mailings too from other banks after you open one. So what.

It's hard to have a thoughtful conversation with someone who doesn't care about what Trump did, does, said, says, will do, will say yet accuses other candidates of flip-flopping.

Article posted this very day on FreeReupublic....use your search function.

This VERY day huh...With all due respect, then it would have been so easy for you to reference it, which is a very courteous and responsible thing to do when you make a statement like that...but you did not...

I actually spent time to do a search with google thru fire fox and I looked on FR...I actually was being sarcastic that I don’t know how to use search functions....but I did not see where he said “self admitted” populist/ nationalist...Well, that is time I will never recover...

Based on what you said: that item was posted here on FR this VERY day, I am assuming this might be the article to which you are referring—but I could be wrong—I have searched though and if you won’t bother to put in a link, I am not wasting more time.

Again. with all due respect, did you read the article? If you did, then not sure why you are saying Trump self- admitted anything...

http://www.breitbart.com/2016-presidential-race/2016/02/11/cruz-knocks-trump-as-non-conservative-trump-admits-it/

Breitbart is great at headline grabbing, but Trump really does not say that he is a populist or nationalist...Sorry he doesn’t—Breitbart and Cruz may say he is by stretching to connect some dots in things he said., but Trump does not say this—which is what you stated.

Unfortunately, people skim threads and may be inclined to think that he is “self-admitted” but that is not correct. he really did not say that....

He may not have stated it, But he was. You don’t win a 49 state landslide and Not be a populist.

I think you may misunderstand the term

There’s a big difference between being “popular” with the electorate and being a “populist”.

George Soros is also not is someone’s pockets.

I don’t think I would use that as my solitary criterion to whether I trust a person would be guided by conservative principles.

He doesn’t just think America is not great (as his slogan implies). He thinks America is a hellhole.

The thing is; with Cruz we finally have someone who can really make some changes if get him elected.
We haven't had a real; conservative get in this position in a long time.
Trump is going to get peoples hopes up; then pull the football away once again; Charlie Brown style.

Talking loud and using profanity doesn't mean someone is a change agent.

I’m sorry, but some of Cruz’s votes in the senate indicate to me that he isn’t who he said he was.

And other things he has done since then indicate the same.

You can believe him if you want to, but I don’t.

His actions speak louder than his words.

And you can’t find anything in Donald’s record to indicate he’s not a conservative?

ROTFLMFAO!

You can roll on the floor and laugh your f***ing a** off all you want to, Jones, but Donald Trump didn’t vote for the stinking Corker Bill like Ted Cruz did.

And with regard to Trump, I really do not care what he is, because none of the people currently in Washington are what they said they were.

Not.

One.

Of.

Them.

Given the track record of self identified conservatives over the last quarter century, I’d say Trump’s status is a feature, not a defect.

No one in the country gives a crap about the “Corker bill” or will ever know what it is. If that’s all you got on Cruz it is WEAK as hell. And I don’t buy for a second that the “Corker bill” is the reason you’re not voting for Cruz.

You should consider giving up politics entirely if your satisfaction is based on a bill failing that 98 Senators supported and only 1 opposed. You will never in your lifetime get a government you’re happy with.

Cruz had very good, solid reasons for voting for the bill.

I’m in the country, and I give a crap about the Corker Bill, and I also know what it is and what its purpose was, and so did Cruz. So I can only assume that you are calling me no one.

And the reason I prefer Trump over Cruz, is because I don’t believe that Ted Cruz is what he says he is, as evidenced by that vote in particular.

And Ted Cruz’s reason for voting for it are a stinking pile of Bovine Scatology. You can believe him, I don’t.

That being said, if Cruz is the nominee, he gets my vote in the general regardless of anything I said.

I bet you don’t do the same for Trump or anyone else.

I ask as sober, serious question to the Trump supporters here. If you came to the conclusion in your own mind that Donald Trump was not guided by conservative principles, would that cause your support for him to waver?

Every position Trump has put on the table is as conservative as you can get as far as I'm concerned...

George Soros? Good choice, but you’ve got it backward, Anitius. George Soros is not in someone’s pockets. George Soros has the pockets politicians are in. And he’s a prime example of why I believe the way I do...

Trump has politicians living in his pocket as well. He talked about that in the first debate, how he would give money to politicians to get things done.

So how much has Trump actually given to other candidates? I know Mr. Soros practically bankrolls the Democrat party. So right now who really has what under their control?
? Frankly, if Trump continues his winning streak donations to wanna-bes wont be necessary. I’m waiting to see which non-Presidential candidate will be the first to hop on Mr. Trump’s coattails, when others will want to start being seen on stage with him and adjust their campaign to mirror his platform. But that is not the same as Soros’ technique. Basically, it comes down to;
Trump-”Here’s what the people want. Follow me if you want to win.”
Soros-”Here’s your campaign contribution. Do as you’re told or no more money.”
Now if you know of Donald Trump contributing to others let me in on it. Otherwise, yes there is a difference between the two...
