Donald Trump: Establishment 'warming up' to me

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Thursday there's nothing wrong with a little deal-making to get things done.

"You know what? There's a point at which: Let's get to be a little establishment," he told about 1,500 people at a rally at the Las Vegas South Point Resort and Casino. "We've got to get things done folks, OK? Believe me, don't worry. We're going to make such great deals."

It was an effort by the billionaire developer to draw contrasts with Ted Cruz, his top rival in the Feb. 1 Iowa caucuses. The author of "The Art of the Deal" suggested that Cruz, largely boxed out of Senate deal making circles, can't operate effectively in office.

"Guys like Ted Cruz will never make a deal because he's a strident guy," Trump told a crowd of about 1,500 people at a rally at the Las Vegas South Point Resort and Casino.

“Would you object to a “deal” to put Cruz on the Supreme Court?”

Trump has said his judge sister (for abortion) would made a GREAT supreme court judge.

Yes, Trump has an ego. It’s time to go for the biggest CEO job in the world. All the general distrust of the two party system opened the door. His biggest selling points are self-funded and never been in office. Nothing else matters.

If Trump plans on busting the establishment heads, why all the establishment talk now? Why criticize Cruz for opposing them? Why the support of establishment leaders like McConmell when a tea party candidate issued a primary challenge?

For some reason, he couldn’t just let Bevin take out McConnell. He injected himself in that race...on the side arguably all his Freeper supporters was against. Why?

You compared Reagan to McConnell and Boehner, but sorry that is bashing.

Yes, Reagan had to compromise. But when he was president, that meant getting something in return. When Boehner and McConnell compromise, it means giving up without getting anything. How can you be in the majority and end up far on the short end of the stick?

And when you hear a liberal saying that he wants to compromise with the establishment, that means conservatives and the country are going to get screwed.

And the Founding Fathers were themselves ideologues

Sadly, I would inject that at the founding of our country, we were a more principled people.

The decay and moral rot of the nation makes real reform most difficult.

Say the wrong word and a neighborhood goes up in flames these days.

What proof do you have that the GOP we elected has made good on
promises made?

Unlike Trump, that actually have the power to affect change.

I've tried to not put too much stock in the "Cruz is hated" line of thinking. But the fact is that sometimes in politics you need some friends.

Cruz needed some friends this past week, and he didn't have any colleagues that would offer even mild support. They left him out there to twist under the Trump onslaught.

I mean, not even Jeff Sessions would speak up for him. I'm not even talking about an endorsement... just a statement that he's been a good conservative. He couldn't even get that.

Voting for Trump allows the Democrats to win. So why bother voting?

Why are you discussing Cruz on the Supreme Court? That's never going to happen. Trump won't even make him the ambassador to Antigua.

Cruz is not well liked in the Senate.

I can see you believe everything the mainstream media says.

Romney: 'My team' will work across the aisle

Hillary says she’ll work across aisle

McCain: I can work with Democrats

Obama's SOTU speech will "reach across the aisle,"

Trump: 'I will be a great unifier'

Trump: “We can make deals with a lot of people, and not necessarily deals, we’re going to have to force some through, because we’re not always going to get along with the Democrats.

NO... The Democrats and liberal Republicans should be given no quarter. We are right, they are wrong. End of story. Conservative not mushy middle.... Comprimise = a win for Democrats and a loss for Conservatives.... .. Do the Democrats and liberal Republicans ever comprimise for something conservative.. NO. Will they.... NO.. ..

They will have less of a choice to ignore the conservatives in the country with a conservative principled President Ted Cruz...... GO TED CRUZ!!

Indeed so. I make note of Isaiah 3:4 quite often while in reference to the current crop of incumbent leaders.

“Trump’s ego will not let him fail.”

You are correct - he wants to win the presidency so he can say he won. He does not give a flip about what happens after he wins.

You compared Reagan to McConnell and Boehner, but sorry that is bashing.

Well, politically, I wouldn't put Reagan in the same boat as those two a-holes for sure.

My point was compromises were made.

Reagan compromised to accomplish a greater good.

McConnell and Boehner.....well, they just sell out the nation, backstab conservatives....you know..the GOPe playbook.

Sorry if I clumsily lumped those together but I think you get my point.

Exactly like that. It's like a Twilight Zone episode you've already seen with slightly different actors.

Compromise is not supposed to be a dirty word. But for conservatives after the ;last 20 years of repeated shafting it is.

Yeah, Trump is going to work real hard to fix America just because he said so, never mind his actions tell us he is going to work with Democrats and give us amnesty, gun control, and bigger government.
