Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Thursday there's nothing wrong with a little deal-making to get things done.
"You know what? There's a point at which: Let's get to be a little establishment," he told about 1,500 people at a rally at the Las Vegas South Point Resort and Casino. "We've got to get things done folks, OK? Believe me, don't worry. We're going to make such great deals."
It was an effort by the billionaire developer to draw contrasts with Ted Cruz, his top rival in the Feb. 1 Iowa caucuses. The author of "The Art of the Deal" suggested that Cruz, largely boxed out of Senate deal making circles, can't operate effectively in office.
"Guys like Ted Cruz will never make a deal because he's a strident guy," Trump told a crowd of about 1,500 people at a rally at the Las Vegas South Point Resort and Casino.

His point was get things done.
Libertarians are great at principles. And losing.
Get the job done. Secure the border. Keep Muslims out. If that’s the on,y thing trump does, fine.
The Trump supporters claim Tump will destroy the establishment. Does this mean he destroy a little bit of himself, too?
“Let’s get things done. “ Starting to sound like a McConnell sock puppet.
When Trump could stand against the Obama policies destroying our economy and founding principles as Hobby Lobby, Chick-fil-a, Lakewood Bakery, and many others did, where was Donald? Where was Donald when a County Clerk from rural Kentucky was sent to jail for obeying the law, where was he?
Oh yea, he was far too busy kissing their backsides to take a stand against them or grow a backbone....
If any Cruz supporter believes a President Cruz would have everything his way without compromising, well..there just may be no hope for them.
Thinking about this earlier today, I’m betting Trump sees this primary season as like 50 contracts to win. But if you win the first 10 or 15, the rest fall to you almost automatically, so that’s what you want to do. And to win them, you have a big advantage if you can just win the first two, so that’s even MORE important. It’s about priorities and leverage, when you look at it like a deal-maker would.
Securing the border will kill the deal with the Democrats. Keeping Muslims out will kill the deal with the Democratls. Trump wants first and fore most to seal the deal. He will compromise whatever it takes to close.
A few months ago that is what we heard is defeat the establishment, now Donald Trump makes it acceptable to work with the establishment....
Reagan and Tip Oneil had to do deals, however during that time DEMS were not Marxists, communists!! Things are much more difficult now the DEMS want our country to be Venezuela !!!!
Be careful. The Trump people will ignore that reality. Trump recently said it was terrible how Cruz treated McConnell. In the NRO post, the trump people are out in full force.
Exactly what kind of “deals” is he planning to make?
I just read a guy who is against Trump saying he will not vote for him if he wins the primary but will leave his ballot blank.
That allows the Dems to win if enough take that stance. Is that how much they care for this country?
Yeah, don't worry.
Sounds like a guy who can reach across the isle to make really great deals!
Dole loves him!
Hatch loves him!
What could possibly go wrong?
I can’t believe that the guy who wrote the Art of the Deal is highlighting his ability to make deals.
You think he can negotiate a better deal than say Paul Ryan?
You think he might be able to put together a better deal than say Mitch McConnell?
You think maybe the American people might be able to look forward to something other than bend over and take every last inch of it?
Yes, whoever is in the White House is likely going to have to work with whoever is in congress.
Let’s see if we can get someone in there who loves his country this time.
And so it begins ....
âLetâs get things done. â Starting to sound like a McConnell sock puppet.
lol. I wish. McConnell has done nothing in 8 years except obstruct. He is another Cruz who can’t inspire.
He addressed this tonight on Hannity, was asked if he would hold the line against big budgets and he said yes. Then he said he’d get people together and try to make a deal and they might not, some things might have to be forced through.
Trump is going to work like no one ever has to fix this country. He’s tireless, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and willing to surround himself with the best people to get it done.
“A little establishment” leavened the whole lump.
