Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Thursday there's nothing wrong with a little deal-making to get things done.
"You know what? There's a point at which: Let's get to be a little establishment," he told about 1,500 people at a rally at the Las Vegas South Point Resort and Casino. "We've got to get things done folks, OK? Believe me, don't worry. We're going to make such great deals."
It was an effort by the billionaire developer to draw contrasts with Ted Cruz, his top rival in the Feb. 1 Iowa caucuses. The author of "The Art of the Deal" suggested that Cruz, largely boxed out of Senate deal making circles, can't operate effectively in office.
"Guys like Ted Cruz will never make a deal because he's a strident guy," Trump told a crowd of about 1,500 people at a rally at the Las Vegas South Point Resort and Casino.

Maybe Trump would have to make a “deal” to get Cruz
the Senate votes he needs to be confirmed on the Supreme Court.
Would you object to that deal if Cruz wanted to be on the Supreme Court.
The USA wasn’t formed due to pragmatism.
This is classic Rorschach test Trump spew.
He’s taking the Reagan/Tipp O’Neil example: They made a great deal for the American people, and President Trump will make those kinds of deals.
He then hits Cruz saying Cruz can’t make deals, and you need to work with congress or else you have a dictatorship, and we already have that.
Trump is a HAPPY warrior!!!
Now I know what it feels like to be in a mass delusion.

That's what Boehner and McConnell always called it.
Unless there is a revolution planned, that's what we got.
An ideologue like Cruz will compromise his principles.
I'd almost prefer Cruz to win at this point to watch Cruz supporters bellyache when the great conservative let's them down.
Would you object to a “deal” to put Cruz on the Supreme Court?
And Reagan
Trump will seal the border right after he issues every American personal unicorns.
I bet Trump would compromise anything to close the deal. The “one issue” Trump supporters will not get what they want from a President Trump, because that one issue will be used as a battering ram against Trump’s weakness for having to make a deal.
Making the deal drives him. The Democrats will run roughshod over him by threatening to not budge on the immigration issue. By holding it hostage, they will extort all kinds of compromise from Trump. This is not real estate where there are other buyers if this deal falls thru that can be used as leverage against each other. He will only have one deal partner choice: Congress.
The Democrats refused to submit a full budget for like 11 years, maybe more. I lost track of how long. Suffice it to say they have held out on things long enough to outlast a President’s term limit.
You think Trump could sit there for eight years, not close a deal on something he wanted and leave office empty handed on that issue?
You’d vote for Hillary?
Damn tootin' it's beginning, EV.
Trump is already dealing with the establishment and they don't even know it.
Watch them begin to jump into the fold he's cracking open a little in the article above and elsewhere.
By the time the general rolls around they'll all be supporting him for prez.
He's WAAAAY ahead of you.

I will eat the Empire State Building if Trump were ever to nominate Cruz to the Supreme Court. (There are much better candidates for the Supreme Court, but they won’t be nominated either)
If we have a 3.8 trillion dollar federal budget for FY 2016, and Trump reduces that budget significantly by hundreds of billions of dollars less than the previous year, but however, Trump has to ‘make deals’ to key Cong critters to get the budget passed is that conservative? I say it is. Trump’s goal is to reduced the federal budget by billions and billions of dollars. Keep an eye on the big ball. The strategic goal is reducing government spending and government’s foot print on America even if he has to gives some key ding dongs in Congress some peanut size stuff for their districts and states.
They are supporting him. He’s their dream candidate. A liberal who takes a chunk of conservative voters.
What makes you think Trump would ever try to pass an immigration bill the Democrats don’t like?
Hardly. I predicted all of this months ago.
It's not the burning down of the GOPe like conservatives want. It's not even a hostile takeover. It's a friendly merger.
He would just let the next Repubicrat get in office and conduct business as usual. Trump wouldn't waste his time.
Trump's ego will not let him fail.
