Mark Levin has spent years defending the Constitution, his radio show bumpers refer to him as "Mr. Constitution". In his view, the constitutional debates and the views of the founding fathers should determine its meaning.
Levin has abandoned this standard in his defense of Ted Cruz's eligibility to run for President. This is evident in at least two ways - ignoring the founders' intentions and arguments, and suggesting that there are only two types of citizenship: naturalized and natural born. Levin revisits this issue with exasperation every day, knocking Mr. Trump and others for discussing it. Last week he referred to the issue as a 'turd in the swimming pool'. Let's examine it.
Canada is a possession of the English Crown. The analog in the founders time was England itself. Levin is suggesting that a person born after the founding, in England, with English citizenship, to parents of mixed allegiance, would have passed the founders' scrutiny. That idea should seem absurd on its face.

See Amend. 23
I always look to later amendments to find the intentions of the framers. Don’t you?
It is an Amendment adopted as the Framers intended.
So was the 16th. How’d that work out?
You are making it difficult to believe that you want serious discussion.
If you do intend to have a serious discussion then please stay on topic.
George WILL— Beck. These are the new “Think for every conservative” geniuses .
Kauthammer is trying desperately to gain forgiveness. His contrition is obsequious now.
I heard George Will on Mike Wallace Sunday and he is doubled down and really looks sad. He knows he is finished. He can’t admit he was wrong even thought he was wrong.
Steve Hayes is a little more circumspect and not so much doctrinaire but then he is paid by Roger Ailes who wants to control the candidate. But he can’t control Trump. That is what makes me love the Trump candidacy.
I keep hearing the defense of pay to play but I thought conservatives deeply believed in the rule of law and principles before profit, at least we use too...
The definition is not in the Constitution itself. All the other matter submitted is subject to varying interpretation.

Steve Hayes has gone from saying Trump can never get the nomination, to now saying Trump can never win. I am so thankful that Trump has upset the apple cart and revealed these ‘insiders’ to be the snarky elitists that they are. In less than a year, they have all lost their former stature.
I could be convinced to accept #4:
4. Child of citizen mother and citizen father, born outside the United States. (McCain's case)
with the following proviso:
a) the parents are not permanent resident aliens in the foreign country (a foreign "green card")
b) except if one parent is a working spouse for someone deployed or working for the government.
This has several implications:
This protects soldiers, diplomats, and the casual citizen who happens to be elsewhere during childbirth. Obviously, this protects women more than men. Consider the following scenarios:
Obviously, this would all require an amendment to put in place the citizen statuses of all nine types of children, reserving #1 and #4+proviso for natural born status. Article II Section 1 would remain unchanged.

Somehow probably in two weeks they will try to jump start the Jebbie campaign and get Barbara all excited for a couple of days.
They will do everything they can to stop this great man. I heard them tonight trying but failing to hurt trumps self defense from the cruz attacks on Trumps State and his MOTHER!! Cruz has blown it ( and he is not eligible under the constitution-— born in Canada!!!)
I agree Cruz’s citizenship needs to be settled, sooner than later. There is no question Cruz is the most conservative candidate, both fiscally and morally. Trumps past words and actions make me wonder how he would govern. OTOH, he
appears to have done a wonderful job raising his children. It’s obvious both men have a deep love for our Country.
I was trying to make a point. If I say Cruz was born in Canada, someone will say “Trump supports abortion”. Doesn’t change the fact, Cruz was still born in Canada. If I say Trump has New York values, someone will say “Cruz took out loans from GS and lied”. Doesn’t change the fact, Trump still has New York Values.
I guess that is why it is called the “silly season”!
How quickly all these pundits have marginalized themselves.
