At any given moment there are approximately a zillion different crowdfunding campaigns happening on the Web. Take a stroll through Kickstarter or Indiegogo and you'll find no shortage of weird, useless, and downright stupid projects out there - alongside some real gems. We've cut through the Pebble clones and janky iPhone cases to round up the most unusual, ambitious, and exciting projects out there this week. Keep in mind that any crowdfunded project -- even the best intentioned -- can fail, so do your homework before cutting a check for the gadget of your dreams.
Flashlights are a handy thing to have with you at all times, but most people will agree that lugging around a full-size (or even somewhat compact) flashlight is a bit of a pain. More often than not, it's easier just to skip the flashlight altogether and just use an app on your smartphone. But what if there was a flashlight so small that you'd hardly even notice you're carrying it? That's where the Bullet comes in. It's creators claim that it's the "smallest LED flashlight in the world," so it's ideal for fitting onto a key chain or throwing in your pocket without adding unwanted bulk or weight.
The bullet-shaped light measures just 10.5mm x 30mm, and it weighs just 6 grams, thanks to a design that uses ultra-lightweight aerospace-grade aluminum. It's also water-resistant, meaning it can be used in rain, sleet, snow, and pretty much any other kind of inclement weather. The device is being funded right now on Kickstarter, and you can get your paws on one for just $8 if you back the project during the early stages....

I like the farming idea.
If you can build say for instance. A self sufficient underground city with farming here on earth. Making one any where else in the solar system becomes a lot easier.
As farming moves indoors, what becomes of the ecosystem that includes insects and pollen?

Bring them in, or genetically engineer them out.
On a very, very small scale, I do indoor farming in my greenhouse. I release lady bugs and praying mantis and of course, insects get in as I come and go.
I use a grow light and a heater. I’ve raised tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and yellow squash. Everything else started in there requires more room than I have and has to be moved outside but my greenhouse is only 8X10.
With a large enough one and enough grow lights, you could grow just about anything.

Robot pollinators perhaps?
I thinking as they are taken out of the equation (and world), not just fabricating what needs to happen indoors. How else do insects and pollen affect the world? Bugs and animals (and plants) up the food chain eat those insects. Bees collect pollen.
We can pave over the planet and live underground but that will leave a barren wasteland.
Just let the surface law fallow and move all of humanity underground. Ultimate environmental policy.
The Japanese already have an indoor iceberg lettuce farm:
Japanese plant experts produce 10,000 lettuce heads a day in LED-lit indoor farm
I could see putting such greenhouses on top of suburban office buildings. The plants could filter the CO2 out of office air.

Already a couple of similar flashlights on the market by Streamlight and Pelican.
I’m working on a time machine. If it succeeds I pay you all back last week with interest.
That would be as "similar" as an auto headlight...
A long way from 30 mm...
My streamlight nano is 33 x 13 mm. Now if this thing is blasting out some serious firepower then I’ll take a look.
Isaac Asimov had that idea in 1974
