Solution? More like recipe for disaster.
Earlier today, you probably saw Danâs piece in which he proposes that âthe solutionâ is to vet and raise a force of â20 million trained, armed, citizen marshals.â Obviously, itâs easy to understand the impulse behind the suggestion. Weâre all eager to find a solution to the terrorism and mass shootings, as well as the daily violence that plagues Americaâs Democrat-controlled urban centers.
But Danâs wrong.
This is exactly what we donât need. Itâs as bad an idea now as it was back in 2008 - only then it was Barack Obama trotting it out during campaign stops: (scroll down for video)
I’ll take my chances with the 20 million, thanks.
So you’d rather the government decide who gets guns?
(I’m guessing you didn’t read the article.)
If we do not have a government willing to identify "them" as the author concedes, then it is absolutely clear 20 million armed citizens qualified and commissioned by their local sheriffs to act in the capacity of marshals are indeed needed.
Read the article before commenting? What a novel idea.
Screw “deputization”.
I does not take a great deal of training to know who the bad guys are when they are trying to shoot you.
CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY and privately-owned guns will do the job nicely. No gummint permission (OR registration) needed nor required.
To nay-sayers: Just remember that the armed and TRAINED p0-lice end up shooting the wrong person ELEVEN PERCENT of the time, when as and IF they are even present.
That is what creating another class of citizen would do, eventually.
We can NEVER assume any power granted to government will be used for 'good'.
History ever reminds us that power will inevitably be turned nefarious and diabolical ends.
