Ben Carson now leading in NC, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa, Wisconsin
The American Thinker ^ | October 6, 2015 | Ed Straker

.........[Ben Carson] is leading in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Wisconsin, and Iowa. That's impressive. It's well-known that he's doing well with religious conservatives in Iowa, but now it looks as though he has appeal throughout the South and other Midwestern states.

[SNIP]

What can Trump do to rebound? He has tried casting doubt on Carson's religion. He has tried having plenty of book signings. In an interview recently he said he was going to replace Obamacare with "something much better." Who wouldn't want to vote for someone who is going to institute a "something much better" health care system? He also promises to "quickly and brutally cut the head off of ISIS." I'm for cutting the head off ISIS. Let the head-cutting begin!

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be enough for voters. His tax plan has higher rates than other tax plans, like Ted Cruz's flat tax.

I'm not a big Ben Carson fan. I don't think he has the experience to be an executive or the temperament to take on Hillary. Trump might be able to at least do the latter. So what can Trump do to improve his position in the polls?

1) Talk about the insanity of "transgenderism" - letting boys into girls' locker rooms.

2) Give more detail on his vague immigration plan of letting the "good ones" come back after they are deported. How many "good ones" are there? Millions?

3) Speak out about the need for voter ID to protect the integrity of the voting process.

4) Pledge to end birthright citizenship by executive order on the first day of his presidency.

5) Tell us what he would replace Obamacare with. I suspect he himself does not know.

What else do you think he can do to help himself?

I live near Greensboro, NC. Dr. Carson has come to town twice in 2015. Appeared in the largest facility in town and charged for tickets. Sold out both times in days. Obviously people are willing to pay to hear him speak and it follows that some will vote for him.

Not really. Doesn't concern me. Polls all showed McCain and Romney "doing the best" vs. Obama. I think polls are accurate for pretty much their top line ("who will you vote for?") but when you get further down, what happens is that people begin to overthink and get cute.

You can bet outside the DC area, 90% of those who say they would vote for Rubio over Hillary will vote for Trump over Hillary. But, if you insist on playing that game, in most polls, Cruz does worse than Rubio or Carson. So he would be the LAST one we should nominate, right?

Wait a minute — Tea Party conservatives in a Confederate state are supporting Carson? How can that be? Everyone knows they’re racists, right? After all, they criticize Obama.

Well, as is always the case, it depends on the recency and consistency of the polling. Time will tell.

If that’s the case, then it’s Trump all the way. He is beating Hillary in PA, MI, FL, and MN.

Odd, I don’t know anyone here in Texas that supports him...

From a previous thread

How the hell is this guy polling so high????? He just says random dumb $hit!

Carson does verbal diarrhea....

and this guy does visual diarrhea

Contrast with some other candidates:

Hillary does lies

Trump seems to have a photographic memory for numbers

Cruz has audiographic memory

“Cruz is the candidate I agree with on just about everything.”

So you have no position on what to do with all the illegals here either?

He ‘says’ he’s not for amnesty, bur McCain said that as well. Letting them stay, even as a guest worker as Carson wants, is by definition amnesty. Since Cruz won’t say, I’m surviving he is for amnesty but won’t admit it.

He lost me by not explaining wanting to increase H1B visas by 500% and not explaining what he’ll do with all the illegals. I waited months and in the meantime Trump came along, was a courageous position I could back 100%. I’m very disappointed in Cruz.

I simply can NOT understand why anyone would be for Carson; especially since he claims that he has "the same goals as Al Sharpton" and his chief adviser is VERY pro the NOI and Screwy Farrakhan

Ditto that

Carson...has the same goals as Sharpton

...and his adviser Armstrong Williams supports Farrakhan

Trump hits Carson in being weak on immigration all the time.

Here we go, your real reason for posting this thread - so you could bash Trump.

You are so transparent.

My understanding of the post:

Some poll(s) say Carson’s leading in several states
You don’t like Trump
I think Carson’s poll numbers are artificially inflated

What’d I miss?

I didn't say it was necessarily the latest poll, but yes: Trump leads Hillary in MI by 1 here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3327603/posts

And this is the latest poll from PPP: Trump leads Hillary in FL by 6.

http://conservatives4palin.com/2015/09/trump-leads-hillary-in-battleground-florida-by-six.html

Try again?

Today, new national poll came out with Trump 30% Carson 17% and the pollster dislikes Trump.

That's what I said, but do you have an AVERAGE of FL with Carson leading? How about an AVERAGE of OK or NC with Carson leading? How about Texas?

Didn't think so. The only "average" where Carson leads Trump is by a faction of a point in RCP national. Now, if you're looking at Trump beating Hillary, or Carson beating Hillary, I haven't seen any averages anywhere.

So I'm glad you "got it."
