The daughter of Guardian author Jessica Valenti did not know that guns existed "in real life." Valenti laments that she even has to tell her daughter "anything about guns," including confirming their existence.
According to Valenti, her daughter five-years-old daughter Layla looked at a picture of Martin Luther King, Jr that hangs in her room and asked, "How did he die?"
Valenti told her that he was killed by a man with a gun. "And thats when she asked, shocked, if guns existed in real life," and then asked why guns were "allowed."
"The truth is that I resent that I have to tell my daughter anything about guns," Valenti laments. She further asks how she can explain that "we live in a nation where peoples right to own a weapon that kills trumps her right to safety and a life free from fear?"
She continues, "This is not the world I want for her - not the world I want for any child."
In the end, "My husband and I did the best we could that night explaining that guns were, in fact, real, and that despite the fact that they are dangerous some people still own them."
According to Valenti, this all happened the night before the shooting at Umpqua Community College.
I am thinking about (correct me if I am wrong to do so) the “Barney Miller” episode in which a prostitute is taken into the station and being booked and questioned, etc by Yemana or one of the other detectives. During this time, she tells the officers that when she was growing up, her mother never really discussed or explained sex or related issues with her. Imagine if you were to switch the word gun to sex in this instance. This is what I fail to understand about these people and their minds concerning something like this.
When I was nine years old, I would visit my great-uncle’s farm where he kept his and his father’s (my great-grandfather’s) firearms in full view in the living room of the old family farmstead (this would have been back in the late 1970s) in Grey County, ON. Given all of this, I find Ms. Valenti’s worldview all the more troubling.
What a sad, sad, little leftist world they live in.
His father stated at that moment that he was going to introduce his child to firearms and their proper usage and safety.
A gun is a tool. Period. Wonder if she's teaching her kid to be afraid of the boxcutter in her toolbox? Plenty of people killed with those. Or a kitchen knife. Or ... etc.
FWIW, this weekend WBill Jr. and I had an in-depth discussion on how to arm a WW II character that he's writing about. HE decided on an M-1, because of its hitting power vs the carbine and Thompson. I said "So long as it's appropriate (not too many Captains carrying around flamethrowers, for instance) you're all set."
No imaginary guns here, beyond imagining what it would be like to touch off a bazooka. :-)
Something that escapes liberals.
Good post.
Strongly-worded petitions?
I can’t wait until they explain wars to her.
These people are not survivors. They might be useful as slaves once we’re back in the dark ages.
Lol! That’s the line that stuck out to me as well. She needs to find and board that special choo choo that only goes to that libtard utopia, not found on any maps, but rumored to be somewhere out in the South Pacific, where ganja grows in every yard, doggie poop magically disappears, and nobody ever has to take the training wheels off their bicycles.
Well, there isn’t a little Billy Drill IV or a little Murderetta (that I know of), but if there were I’d hate like hell to have to tell them that liberals are real. It would be such a beautiful fantasy world if they had to suffer the consequences of their own idiocy before they try to drag the rest of us down with them.
“”that guns were, in fact, real, and that despite the fact that they are dangerous some people still own them.””
This idiot is from New York - ‘nuff said. I wonder if she’s told her daughter that “despite the fact that alcohol can be dangerous, people still do it.” Bet the child sees her parents drink alcoholic beverages.
I wonder what kind of a kook has a picture of MLK, Jr. in a child’s bedroom. It said “her room” so I’m assuming it didn’t mean the living room - not even JFK or the Pope but MLK, Jr. ODD!
‘...then asked why guns were “allowed.”’
Easy question.
You remember in Star Wars, little girl, there was an evil Emperor who told everyone what they could and couldn’t do, and killed the people who didn’t obey him?
Well, we don’t want one of those bossing us around. That’s why guns are allowed!
“Who the f___ hangs a picture of Martin Luther King in a five year old’s bedroom in the first place?”
A political activist who wants to make sure the indoctrination starts as early as possible.
Amen!
Yes! That’s the place! ;)
Reeks of contrivance from A to Z. Also getting a whiff of desperation...
Let’s clear off Australia and dump all the liberal idiots on that “island” to fend for themselves. Any attempted breakouts will be dealt with via drones. (sorry, down under)
