Columnist: NRA should be placed on State Department's list of terrorist organizations

Linda Stasi, a columnist for the New York Daily News, has a unique proposal to share with her readers.

She thinks the NRA should be listed on the State Department terrorist list because they are responsible for thousands of gun deaths over the last few years.

Sheesh.

One terrorist group is responsible for more civilian deaths since December 2012 (the Sandy Hook massacre) than Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, Hamas and the Taliban. Yet it is the only nearly-state sponsored terrorist group that is not listed by the U.S. State Department as such.

It is the National Rifle Association and for their unending lobbying that’s kept a lid on gun control we now have 428 times more American deaths by gun than deaths by foreign terrorists.

Between 2012 and 2015, according to University of Maryland’s Global Terrorism Database, ISIS has murdered approximately 12,138 civilians, Boko Haram,10,092, the Taliban 9,427 and Hamas, 85.

In that time, homegrown American terrorists have murdered or spree killed, via gun and assault rifle, 87,423 people in the United States.

The Left likes to pull statistics out of their frequently penetrated anal regions.

There haven’t been 87,423 murders in the US since the beginning of 2012 (if you exclude abortions), of all types. Even if you add in accidental deaths from firearms the correct figure would be a fraction of what she claims.

Where do they even pull their numbers from? The link at bottom compiles data from the FBI's UCS Annual Crime Reports, which shows from 2012-2014, there has been a TOTAL of ~43,000 murders. Assuming a similar number for 2015, we get about 57,000 murders in that time period. How have more people been murdered with firearms, than the total number of people murdered? My guess is she's padding her numbers to include suicides or something like that, in order for the extra shock value. Also, I highly doubt her numbers on those killed by terrorist organizations are that low, especially for Daesh.

60% of gun deaths are suicides. The murders are almost all committed by gang members or other criminals with felony records, making them ineligible to own guns.
