I don’t know anyone who believes we are to go it alone. That said, a church member who doesn’t know HIM personally is nothing but a tare in the wheat field. Church membership cannot save you because salvation is individual, not corporate. No priest or pope will be there to plead your case when you stand at the bar of judgment.

Let me tell you what happened to me during my last eye surgery. I was awake during it and part was very painful. I just said, “okay, God, You are going to have to help me through this.” He did and I started singing “Amazing Grace” to myself and parts of 2 other songs. He is all He said He was. We do not need a pope or anyone else.
I can imagine Yeshua wearing all that garb. But then, not really. Why doesn’t the pope wear a simple robe since he’s all about getting down with the people.

At it’s core it reminds me of the late Roman Republic and how it was organized politically. That’s only logical of course as it was the most successful political organization of the early centuries of the Christian Church.

That's why I went RCC after more than twenty years as an Evangelical. The "special pleading" that gets passed off Biblical understanding would be truly terrifying if these people really believed they'd ever have to give an accounting.
