Having a personal relationship with Jesus is LIFE SAVING!
This pope is the one who is very dangerous.
For him maybe.
Wow, a stopped clock is right twice a day.
Going back to the early views of the RCC that only a priest can be the ‘go-between’ for a parishioner and God.
Thank GOD for Martin Luther.
Yeah, a personal relationship with Christ might tend to turn one off to all the liturgy and pomp of the Holy Roman Church. A personal relationship kind of obviates the whole basis of the Catholic Church with its emphasis on priests acting as intermediaries between Christians and God.
Wrong direction to thank...
Correct me if Im wrong but thats what its all about a personel relationship
This is the Catholic point of view, then, now and always.
There is a church, it is a community, and going it alone isn’t a good thing. If you want to go personally mystical that’s fine, but coming back afterwards with “God told me this..” is problematic.
This statement is heresy.
The Bible is filled with having a relationship with Jesus.
NOT ONE MENTION OF A POPE.
YES!
Having a personal relationship with Jesus (God the Son) means we should include God in our daily lives. We should pray to Him, read His word, and meditate on verses in an effort to get to know Him better. We should pray for wisdom (James 1:5), which is the most valuable asset we could ever have. We should take our requests to Him, asking in Jesus’ Name (John 15:16). Jesus is the one who loves us enough to give His life for us (Romans 5:8), and He is the one who bridged the gap between us and God the Father - not a pope, priest or pastor!
The pope simply said you cannot have a relationship with Jesus without His Church, which He established to continue his work of salvation through all the ages. He wants everyone to belong to that Church and receive all the graces that flow from it. You may disagree with that idea, and that is your choice. We all have free will and can accept or reject the truth.
By the way, this thread would be better placed in the Religion Forum. It’s probably not a “news” thread.
I agree... It also confirms my opinion that the current leaders of the RCC are very much totalitarian at their core.
The little people need to be ‘guided’ and they are the shepherds that must do that guidance.
There are more and more times lately when I really think that the ‘end times’ are near. And for the record I am agnostic. I want to believe. but have so many doubts...
Catholics don’t believe the Holy Bible is the Authority for human lives.
Is he off his rocker? Never heard such nonsense.
That’s what drove me out of the RCC - I realized that I didn’t need a middle man between me and Christ. The head middle man is still a middle man.
First, thanks for posting!
I don’t know if any of you have ever listened to any of the teaching by Jacob Prasch on youtube - but you might want to give him a spin. One of the things he teaches (as do others) is that at the end of the age there will be a big push for a sort of religious multiculturalism as well as cultural. A state where there will be “approved” religions sanctioned by the state and “unapproved” or unsanctioned religions which will be banned. Those “accepted” ones will still have to “bow the knee to Caesar,” if you will, as the supreme entity (we don’t care what you worship as long as you bow to the Beast and the False Prophet). This pope (IMO) seems to be working toward similar goals whether he knows it or not. i.e., you can’t be a Christian unless you come under the jurisdiction of the Catholic Church. A pope this friendly with Obama and what he’s trying to do in the world give me the creeps - and I know I’m not alone.
