After the last presidential nomination cycle, where Mitt Romney had to struggle a bit to get the nomination, GOP leaders decided to make it easier for one of their own to get the nomination. They figured that a GOP insider, bankrolled with big money from the Chamber of Commerce and other like-thinking crony capitalists who want illegal immigration and business opportunities with Iran, could, with proper funding, get 35% or 40% of the vote in Republican primaries.
Therefore, GOP insiders thought that increasing the number of states who award delegates based on "winner take all" where the largest vote-getter, even if only a plurality, gets all the delegates would aid an establishment GOP candidate, especially in a fractured primary such as this one. They also condensed the primary calendar, so an insurgent candidate won't have as much time and opportunity to rally against the establishment candidate.
Well, it hasn't quite worked out that way.

RNC/GOPe Rule Changes and How They Impact The 2016 Presidential Primary

What I said a month ago.
No wonder they are in panic mode right now. hehehehe!
thank god the republican party did not do what the democratic party did by having super delegates. right now we are seeing what happens when 25 percent of the delegates are not chosen by election but are assigned by the position they have in the party. there is a good chance that Hillary Clinton will be nominated because she controls most of those delegates. Hillary at this point is unelectable but she has a strangle hold on the selection and that has kept insurgent candidates out and has given Bernie sanders a insurgent candidate a up hill battle.
if the leadership of the republican party had done this we would be stuck with there choice.
That’s exactly right. A candidate has to WIN 8 state primaries to even be nominated at the convention.
Trump is going to go in there with at least 30 wins and no other candidate is going to get 8. Right now they’d be lucky to get 1.
But that’s good. We need Trump.

Maybe God has His plans and they will not be thwarted by man.
Trump may not be perfect, but as time goes by, and we see his positions solidify, he looks better and better.
The political elites have failed America, and have no problem dining on its remains.
I don't see Trump in that category.
I see him as one who loves his country, one who can't be bought, and one who is unafraid to tell the truth.
Right now, that is the medicine America needs.
I think after March 15 its winner take all. With Trump polling in the 30’s consistently, they have all but handed it to him.
They expected it to be down to 2 or 3 nominees with the GOPe candidate clearly leading by that time. If they have 5 still running it will divide the vote in Trumps favor.
Trump has completely blown up their plan to keep power.
