We gave him probably $200 in his various efforts to win and stay in office in Wisconsin. I like what he's done there and I like that he announced his union plan at Reagan's college. That same place was where Reagan announced the START treaty approach, if my memory serves.
We continue to like him, but I think the current crop of candidates will be more effective on the national scene. Trump has a lot of fun with his self-promoting, but we do believe he has already announced, as of last night, a large amount of policy directions the other candidates just haven't provided. Even his expectation around repatriation of foreign profits at a very low rate will be a huge plus the others have not mentioned. This was low-hanging fruit Cruz or Walker didn't care to come out in favor of. The same with the immigration brief he came out with a few weeks ago—why can't Cruz or Walker do this? I know neither agrees with Trump (only Trump wants a cap or reduction in H1-B visas), but still, why not offer position papers with substance? It's because Cruz and Trump don't have any cajones for such public stances. They don't want to be attackable, so they'd rather look indecisive or uncaring.
Walker and Cruz have known for awhile what and why they believe what they do (well, Walker has become really good at waffling on what he believes). Why should Trump be the only one giving formal policy positions?
My dad used to warn me, “Never to trust a guy in a bow tie.” You’re still right daddy.
If I were to become President on 20 January, 2017, I guarantee you that I would have a military mobilization on the southern border underway before the conclusion of the first Inaugural Ball.
I would order an immediate deployment of as many active duty troops as possible to initiate a complete closure. I would work then on tightening that porous hole into perpetuity.
I think that Trump is fully capable of issuing such orders on day 1.of his
Administration and he would likely guarantee his reelection by doing so.
Those things need to be done, and of the entire slate on either side, none else but Trump would do it. Just ask them.
In other news, new polls show Walker is leading among accordion players between the ages of 57-59 who are Hockey fans and who drive blue pickup trucks. Looks like he’s really starting to turn things around.
These polls are based on caucus goers in the last two elections.
There was absolutely no excitement on the republican side in the last two elections so I don’t know that you can judge this election by them.
