In the mid-70s, when I was in Junior High School, I noticed a few things:
My favorite subject (History) became “social studies”.
My Social Studies teacher liked to focus on situational ethics which encouraged people to do bad things (steal medicine to help sick children, engage in cannibalism to avoid starvation, etc.)
My Social Studies teacher liked to rant about some mysterious thing called “The John Birch Society”. He never told us what it was, but he made it clear that it was the source of all evil in the world.
I’m not a member of the JBS and still don’t know a heck of a lot about it. But I do know that the communists hate it. So it can’t be all bad.

John Birch was a Christian Missionary in China prior to WWII, worked as an intel officer and spy/infiltrator for Chennault (Flying Tigers) in China during WWII, and was murdered by the communist Chinese right at the end of the war. He had NOTHING to do with the John Birch Society, except unfortunately they hijacked his name for the group.

Use of the phrase “Israel-first” exposes one as an antisemite for sure.

Justin Gaimondo and the Ludwig von Mises Institute are on the Hate Israel list, too. The Catholic background of so many of its members is what I attribute to this position.

The JBS always was a front group for the European right wing and our own domestic Jew-haters. It was the "blue lodge" for recruiting decent conservatives and, by exposing them a little bit at a time to the classic anti-Jewish line, to eventually recruit them into the anti-Semitic movement proper. If the JBS is a front group for the Judeophobic European right, I don't believe it started out that way. The JBS seems to have been founder Robert Welch's own idea and I see no evidence that he was part of any anti-Semitic movement.
In The Blue Book of the John Birch Society (1959) which is essentially a transcript of the two-day presentation that he gave in which he set up the organization, Welch urges Christians to be better Christians, Jews to be better Jews and Moslems to be better Moslems. During the years I was a member, I collected Birch publications and never read anything Judeophobic in any of them. Judeophobes were quickly purged, as was a prominent writer for their house organ American Opinion after he made an anti-Jewish speech in 1966.
However, it seems that Judeophobes infiltrated the organization, but I wouldn't know how deep they penetrated. Several of their American Opinion bookstores carried books by the British fascist Nesta Webster. One chapter chairman in Europe that I knew was a fan of hers and defended her when I complained about the rabid Judeophobia that she expressed in her book Secret Societies and Subversive Movements (London: Boswell, 1924).
However, in 1968, the JBS publishing house Western Islands published The Suicide of Europe by Michael Sturdza, a prominent Romanian fascist, which tells the story of World War II from a fascist point of view. Some of the statements in this book are eye-opening, such as when he takes at face value the Nazi description of the killing of German diplomat Ernst vom Rath by the Jewish refugee Herschel Grynszpan, which touched off the Reichskristallnacht pogrom in 1938.
However, what eventually turned me off to the JBS were the silly "master conspiracy" theories that it was promoting and still does, and I left after five years.

That's interesting in regards to an organization that has so many adherents of southern European and northeastern European descent.

"There's more to it than just theology. They actually seem to regard chrstianity as a religion created by and primarily applying to people of European descent. It's as if Europeans were either the 'new Israel' or the 'true Israel' (with actual Jews as evil counterfeits, G-d forbid)."
I sometimes call it New Rome (could be New Greece, New Persia, New Babylon or the like). It and it's heritage is all around us. That's part of what woke some of us up to be Noachides. Chrstianity is also very popular, though, in east Asia, Africa, South America and other southern places.

Thank you for the information about the John Birch Society, by the way. It’s such a crypto-Nazi outfit with such subtle gradualism, that many would be fooled by it. It’s also noticeable that Pat Buchanan’s similar effort continues to be published by some. They eventually expose themselves a little. Then, when exposed a little, they step back to start over again with false appearances of conservatism.

McCain and gang wanted to surround Israel wihtthe Muslim Brotherhood. They are anything by Israel-firsters. However, I think Japser threw this in to protect them against claims that JBS was supporting Israel over America.
For the record, I was a member in 2000.
