One of them needs to eliminate or totally reform the DEA and thier over stepping power. I know a close family friend that recently killed themselves(last week), because pharmacies would not fill their pain medications. This person had terminal cancer and was dying, and the damned pharmacies around here would not fill her doctors script. I dont condone killing oneself(as it isn't christian) but her note the police found said she was in so much pain and couldn't stand it anymore. She was a sweet old lady that I used to mow her lawn when I was growing up and she was friends with my mom. She used to bring sodas and tea out to me worried I was getting to hot :(. This is just not right. The lady was 72 years old.. RIP. Sorry for the rant. I just feel so bad for the lady and wondered how lonely and in pain she was before she killed herself. Makes me sad. :(
What did the DEA have to do with pharmacies not filling prescriptions?
I have moderate to severe arthritis and my Dr. prescribed lortab for nearly 20 years. He quit around a year ago.
Now I take over the counter ones and some of them hurt my stomach.
It’s probably the FDA.
I can’t get medication I need because of FDA insanity. I think anyone over the age of 65 ought to be able to use any medication they goddamn want to. FDA be damned.
I think from what I have read they ration them or crack down on them(pharmacies) hard because all the damned drug addicts. I dunno personally. I just usually get antibiotics when I have to go. Why would someone turn away a terminal cancer patient? I mean really, they person is dying let them have some comfort at least before they die.
Something doesn’t sound right. She should have contacted her doctor and told them that her pharmacist was refusing to full the script. Then the doctor and pharmacist could resolve it.
It was the DEA who had Hydrocodone commonly found in Vicodin and Norco reclassified as a Class 2 drug, from a Class 3.
Supposedly 15,000 people year were dying from O.D. because of these drugs.
Thing is, if you are in intolerable pain they can make the day bearable....
The DEA is putting pressure on doctors and even threatening them not to prescribe certain pain meds. Doctors are now more worried about PUNISHMENT from the DEA than they are the well-being of their patients.
It is sad when certain states and cities make policy based on a certain drug.
I don’t know who is doing this but this is impacting not just pain meds, but antibiotics. Because of the “Superbugs” kids have to be at death’s door now before the Doc around here will write them a script.
This makes the public schools around here giant bacteria factories.
I just had an infected tooth, and got some meds which I was supposed to take every 6 hours.
I did this for several days, it wasn’t getting better so I upped it to every 4 hours.
Got much better but ran out of meds before it was gone.
Called my dentist and he renewed the script BUT the pharmacy couldn’t fill it for 3 days! I am pretty sure my dentist didn’t specify that.
My wife takes Phenol patches and the restrictions on those are ridiculous. She gets the ‘are you a junky?’ questions every time she fills them. She had cancer with a 96% mortality rate so she is lucky to be alive.
“I have moderate to severe arthritis and my Dr. prescribed lortab for nearly 20 years. He quit around a year ago.”
I am dealing with moderate to severe osteoarthritis where I needed vicodin just to get out of bed. Then it got scheduled and my doctor could no longer prescribe it.
Luckily I found a doctor who after seeing me try to get off the examining table wrote the script. I thank her every day.
“Supposedly 15,000 people year were dying from O.D. because of these drugs.”
There were many times I felt like taking too many because of the pain. The doctors said, go to a pain management center, they will be able to help me. The pain management center wanted to help me by injecting every joint in my body with cortisone.
That’s how they want to help. A simple 10/325 twice a day with an anti-anxiety pill so nothing tightens up on me due to stress is all I need. Works great.
Why do government idiots have the right to tell people what medicines they can't have?
funny that morphine, heroin etc were legal in the USA until the progressive era of the early 1900’s and 3% of the people were addicts then same as now with all the banning
Were they so dangerous then? And now that there is Google and the Internet available you say they are dangerous now that people can see what the real effects are by doing a Google search.
I guess you trust government thugs to keep us children safe from ourselves right?
That is terrible. RIP sweet lady. I hope that does not happen to anyone in my family. My mom died from terminal cancer and was in terrible pain until they started giving her morphine in the hospital.
If they would not have taken care of her right; we would have taken her to a hospice where they take care of people as they die. Who abandoned this poor soul to suffer alone with no help? I know the DEA is a problem...but her family could have done something. They could at least now sue the pharmacy for not filling her scripts and causing her to suffer so much with terminal cancer, she killed herself. This would help other, at least.
The DEA, and state governments are coming after pain patients the way liberals come after guns.
They wont prosecute the abusers, and are preventing doctors from treating those of us in real pain.
I can sing every verse of this song.
I am so sorry for your friend.
I have gotten close to the edge of that cliff several times over the last few months.
I finally found a new pain doctor 150 miles from my house. I am now able to walk to the kitchen, but still can not stand long enough to shower.
If I had terminal cancer, in her shoes I might have gone the same way rather than suffer.
Did she investigate inpatient pain treatment?
What state are you in?
I’m in Tennessee. I don’t know all the details of her pain managment she was a close friend of my moms
. I just know that everyone was talking about how the pharmacies turned her away for legitimate pain prescriptions. This is just wrong in my opinion.
