We do not need to violate the Constitution to follow it.
We simply need to follow it with exactness...Cruz will do this.
Trump may not. That’s my biggest fear of Trump...and this article just makes it all the more real. That three are foolish American talking about it and approving it. They know not what they may create...but history teaches us, and so did the founders.
Violating your oath is not only illegal, it is treasonous...no matter what side of the ideological divide you are on.
So, while I would vote for Trump in a heartbeat over Hillary or any DNC candidate, I would continue to have this concern.
And should the concern bear out, and Trump begin violating and destroying the constitution, I would speak out JUST AS LOUDLTY AGAINST IT and FIGHT JUST AS HARD AGAINST IT as I would against the traitorous bastard Obama.
Right with you. Anyone willing to bust up the Constitution on any grounds, ever slightly, is not a trustworthy individual and is not fit to be POTUS.
The Constitution has been amended many times. It could happen again.
from A Lincoln Preface by Carl Sandburg:
“I don’t intend precisely to throw the Constitution overboard, but I will stick it in a hole if I can,” he told a Cabinet officer. The enemy was violating the Constitution to destroy the Union, he argued, and therefore, “I will violate the Constitution, if necessary, to save the Union.” He instructed a messenger to the Secretary of the Treasury, “Tell him not to bother himself about the Constitution. Say that I have that sacred instrument here at the White House, and I am guarding it with great care.”
That’s why Cruz should be Attorney General.
Trump is necessary right now to defeat the combined communist forces of the GOPe, Democrats, and the media.
Using the same tactics to undo much of what Obama has done, that he used to do it in the first place, is not only permissible, but totally necessary.
Constantly allowing an opponent to use tactics to gain an advantage that you will not use to reverse those advantages is not only stupid, but -self-destructive.
Amen, brother.
Trump hasn’t advocated “killing the Constitution”, that I am aware of.
Everything he’s said he’ll do, to “transform” us back to being a great country, again, can be done within the bounds of our Constitution. We have so many laws that aren’t even being enforced, now.
Once Trump is elected, and the wall is built, laws enforced and welfare and other *benefits* are restricted, folks will leave on their own.
He can do other things to diminish or reverse what destruction 0bola and the progressives - in both parties - have done, without “killing” the Constitution.
Now, the key is for our country, to set it back to normal AND THEN STOP. Like George Washington might have.
If the left comes up with bloody murderous hit squads and a tyranny of terror and torture, we must -- like Pinochet -- come up with bloody murderous hit squads and a tyranny of terror and torture until the leftist threat is removed..... Then return to a Republic.
“this article just makes it all the more real”...
Not in any rational way.
Of course there’s always a risk the Constitution is so abused and misinterpreted that it is just a fiction. But some blogger’s ‘feelings’- which happen to produce a click-drawing headline- is scant evidence.
.
If only the Trumpets here could think as clearly as you!
.
Me, too. I want the constitution. He can use the bully pulpit to shame the Congress into action. That is what Reagan did...but Reagan negotiated agreements in Congress. Trump can do this...I think.
The radical Left has to be tossed out of the process. They are committed to keeping all the “gains” they got from Obama and in past years that no long make any sense. Some of Obama’s most horrible stuff was done under EO and can just be ripped up by Trump.
If he wins, I hope he picks Cruz as VP. Cruz knows where the bodies are buried and how and where to move in Government. Trump is much more able to voice his plan in a clear, clever and flamboyant way than is Cruz. He’ll have the press following him around because he’ll be so “outrageous.”
Trump does not care whose ox he gores. He’s a bully if need be to get a deal done on what he wants fixed. Cruz is an Ivy League scholar/lawyer like of personality/public image. The two of them would be good together. The leader and his government lawyer and advisor.
Cruz could keep Trump from getting impeached...overstepping what he can get away with in power. The Uniparty will be after Trump.
Cruz could review legislation put before Trump by others and now he knows how important that personal review is since Mitch lied to him and screwed him. Trump has good lawyers to help and so does Cruz. Cruz knows there no honor among thieves and that is what Congress is under McConnell and Boner. Congress is not as honorable as business where you make a deal and expect yourself and others and the courts to uphold the contract. Congress is like making deals with ex-cons. They will tell you one thing, then put something totally different in legislation. Cruz already knows which EO’s have to go. This is if Trump and not Cruz wins the nomination. I would feel safer with Trump (constitution wise) if Cruz was the VP.
