TGIF, so I thought I'd take a little break from ATTAC (all things Trump and Clinton) and turn to a lighter topic. In almost 70 years of network television, the two most popular genres by far have been westerns and police. Doctor/medical dramas have always entertained audiences. But I wanted to see which military themed TV series Freepers like, and/or remember most.
My pleasure..glad I made your day...
I beat you by 2:14
I loved The Unit.
Lost interest during the writers strike.
Partly because of...
Melody Patterson as Wrangler Jane in F-Troop

Anyone like the series “Band of Brothers”? I found it quite boring, personally.
There was another series, it ran about the same time.. that depicted US troops in the Italian campaign..but for the life of me I can't remember the name. I too had problem remembering this other series. Did not run long.
"The Gallant Men" was a 19621963 ABC television series which depicted an infantry company of American soldiers fighting their way through Italy in World War II.
VICTORY AT SEA
BOTH because they were factual, based on documentary footage. The rest are all farces or even intentional smears, to include:
Hogan's Heroes
McHale's Navy
Baa Baa Black Sheep
Rat Patrol
MASH (the worst)
"Combat" and "Twelve O'Clock High" deserve an honorable mention, they at least made the attempt.
JAG and NCIS are just pretty people in uniform.
Bless your heart...thanks...I couldn’t stand having another senior moment LOL
Hogan’s Heroes was based on an actual British prisoner of war that would leave camp, go into town and get information, send it back to the allies then go back into camp.
He also orchestrated sabotage against the Germans while a prisoner.
So you did. *grin* Despite the writers strike, I thought it had real potential and was disappointed that it was canceled so soon. Then again, I felt the same way about Firefly but that was more a Space Western than a Military themed programme.
Not to be an airhead, but Hogan’s Heroes- lol
Even met Werner Klemperer once, he once lived nearby
“Victory at Sea” would be my favorite, followed by “The Big Picture.”
Quintin McHale, Quintin McHale...he’s the terror of the Pacific ..Quintin McHale...
Earworms anyone?
I agree, my first thought. “ I see nothink, I know nothink. Please Col. Hogan don’t show me these thinks.”
Sends chills....
Combat!
Victory at Sea
12 O’Clock High
World at War
and to a lesser extent:
JAG
Sends chills....
NCIS
True, and only surpassed forty years later by “Band of Brothers”. But I must agree that for regular commercial network TV it was still the very best.
Ah yes...Sen. Lizzy Warrens tribe. The Hakawis.
Wait...maybe she is a member of the Go-Go Gopher tribe...
I ferget.
12 O’clock High!!
I finally got to take a ride in a B-17 in 2007.
