Michael Bloomberg has a lot of money to spend to work at restricting Americans right to keep and bear arms. One of the latest projects is an online publication called "The Trace". The Washington Examiner says both the New York's "Capital" and the NRA agree that the site's purpose is to push Bloomberg's views. From washingtonexaminer.com:
The National Rifle Association doesn't buy it. "This project is yet another illustration of Bloomberg's ego-driven zeal to control other Americans and diminish not just their rights, but their access to reliable information about their rights," its lobbying shop said.and
In the only story about The Trace, New York's "Capital" said the site will be the editorial arm of Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety. The group draws attention to gun violence, builds protests against organizations and companies that don't ban guns in stores, and promotes background checks. The Trace recently ran a story on how many times people have been prevented from immediately buying firearms at a federally licensed dealer since the system went into effect in 1998. The total number of denials is about 1.2 million.
The law requires licensed gun dealers to check with law enforcement before making a sale, which in this state is the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The goal is to prevent felons -- and people who don't qualify -- from getting their hands on a gun and it's a federal crime if they even try.62 cases out of 76,142 denials is .08 percent.
But how often is the law enforced?
"Virtually no one is arrested and convicted of attempts to illegally buy a gun in a gun store," stated Gary Kleck, a professor of criminology at Florida State who's done extensive research on gun control laws.
FOX 13 took a look at the numbers across the nation and in the Tampa Bay Area. The most recent figures from the Department of Justice show there were more than 76,142 denials in 2010.
But just 62 cases were referred for prosecution and only 13 resulted in a guilty verdict or plea.
The idea that "traces" are valuable is mainteed as a fiction to protect the validity of this proto-registration system.

So what? It came online.
Take it down.
The government can’t do IT security worth squat.
It’s too bad there isn’t a group dedicated to the Constitution, or American values willing to win in this age of information.
Once you start talking about the right of a person to own a gun, you’ve made the case for the Second Amendment.
Screw that Yankee pig.
Didn't work then, either.
No worries Dean. It’s early even for AZ time. LOL!
Sadly, with the bucks that nannie bloomers has, he’ll be able to flood sites with ads touting his new site as THE place to go for those that want to know the TRUTH about “gun violence” and the ‘catastrophic’ toll it takes on innocents every hour of the day. And, I’m bettin’ you can’t make a comment unless you subscribe or become a member of the momunists. Maybe even like the old brady site, you couldn’t even find a “contact” address.
It did work. Gun ownership is down significantly.
Oh wait.
Still, we must not let our guard down. Never become complacent. Back in the 80s did you ever imagine that gay marriage would be legal and transgenders would be allowed in the military?
Well after scrolling through I did find this:

The site you are reading today is a work in progress. As The Trace evolves, expands, and improves, we welcome your feedback. Please send your suggestions, questions, and constructive criticism to letters@thetrace.org.
As we build a national network of correspondents, were interested in hearing from experienced journalists who know things we dont and are based in places we otherwise might not get to. Resumes and story ideas can be submitted to info@thetrace.org.
So you can send them suggestions or submit story ideas but my guess is you’ll be treated (if at all) with disdain and your opinions and story ideas round filed. I’m sure there are some who could submit ideas that would pass muster but doubtful any “pro-gun” info would be acceptable. Reading their mission statement alone is enough to taste a little bile.
Jeb Bush approves. I wonder how Donald Trump feels...
“The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions. I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I also support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With todays Internet technology we should be able to tell within seventy-two hours if a potential gun owner has a record.”
Can a civil rights class action suit be brought for attempted infringement of the 2nd amendment?

Not yet. Perhaps in the future.
