A Medford police detective has been placed on administrative leave after he was caught on video threatening to blow a hole through your f---ing head while pulling over a driver who drove the wrong way at a traffic circle.
Medford Police Chief Leo Sacco confirmed to Boston.com that the man in the video was Medford Police Detective Stephen Lebert.
Hes a 30-year member of the department and works in our detective division, Sacco said. Hes a very effective police officer but last nights incident thats on video, at least that portion of the video that I saw, is troubling to say the least.

Clearly the driver’s fault. After all, he committed a crime so he should know he can be killed for it. Isn’t that what we will hear from those who defend the police 100% of the time?
It’s a good thing only the police carry guns in Boston! /s
....”hey don’t commit the crime if you cant do the crime”...right? I hate those people
We have concealed carry here.
I can tell you that after 30 years on the force the cop is probably very jaded about citizens. not entirely his fault given how they see the courts do nothing about the same people they have to keep dealing with, but it colors how they deal with regular citizens and it causes them to regard all non cops as miscreants and always lying to them. Ive seen it in my family and friends of family’s cops. very jaded and cynical. Sometimes like this cop, dangerous if you dont know what is coming your way.
“When you saw the directional arrow indicating traffic flow, you should ask yourself one question. Do you feel lucky. Well, do ya’ punk?”
The driver could have killed someone. I can understand the cop having an overload of adrenaline to cope with.
Aren’t the majority of the roundabouts in the English speaking world in places like England and Australia clockwise, rather than counter-clockwise?
Heck, even Batman reminded Robin to drive on the left side of the road in England.
Was the driver a person of color or not? That’s all that matters here.
Oh, well, in THAT case...
The perp gets out of his car, approaches the cop in a threatening manner.
The guy that got out in a threatening manner WAS the cop in question.
yeah, if the local cop chief approving carries got laid last night, if he approved your pistol permit earlier that year and if the fire dept. captain likes your handgun storage box and ammo repository out in the garage.
” Isnt that what we will hear from those who defend the police 100% of the time?”
Can you name any that defend the police 100% of the time?
crickets chirping ...
Hey.
Boot-licking copsucker here.
I have watched the video, and I cannot see any action or behavior by the driver of the car that would make the officer think he is in any danger, so for him to threaten to put a hole in the man’s skull is way over the top.
He was in an unmarked truck and he was not in uniform, he jumped out of his truck aggressively and approached aggressively before finally showing his badge.
I have no problem with the man backing up at all. I think I would have done the same.
The only time the man did get close to making an error was when he argued about turning off the car. He already knew the man was a policeman, so I would just go ahead and follow the order and not antagonize him, because he was obviously overly aggressive to start.
No sense in starting a fight you aren’t likely to win, take it up with his superiors later.
Anyway, the cop deserves to be disciplined.
Now, I’d like to hear something similar from those who attack police 100% of the time on other incidents where police find themselves attacked without warrant.
The only thing I am interested in is truth. I don’t care about emotions or distrust of police. Each incident is different. This time, the cop is out of order.
First of all, the term "person of color" (or POC) is one used by leftists and had no place in the world's foremost Conservative forum. Political correctness is shunned here at Free Republic and FReepers use precise (and scientific) terms for such individuals): black, negro, colored, African, Mexican and so on.
Secondly, and respectfully given your impressive tenure here, your post seems to imply that FReepers judge a given situation by the skin complexion of the involved individual. I've been reading this forum regularly since September 16, 2001 and have never seen even the slightest indication of knee-jerk racism here. The one and only time it happened was back in July 2009 during the taxpayer-supported hussein family trip to France. There were some offensive (but somewhat humorous) barbs directed at hussein's brood. The truth became evident shortly after the posts appeared -- they were leftist infiltrators. Once that was determined, the fast-acting moderators pulled the entire thread.
FReepers are Conservative and base their evaluations on an individual basis not on skin color or heritage. As slam dumk proof of that assertion, consider the popularity that Herman Cain had here back in the 2012 election cycle. Likewise, Ted Cruz, of Cuban heritage on his father's side, is very well-liked here. Finally, the boss (whom I've courtesy pinged since I refer to him in this post) clearly states these rules for posts here:
NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts.
And that alone undermines your innuendo that there's a racist undertone in this forum for Conservative activism.
The guy in the shorts and wife beater was the cop. The dash cam was in the motorist’s car.
