USA Today reported on Wednesday that TV Land, a nostalgia network that shows episodes of old TV series, has yanked The Dukes of Hazzard from its schedule. The series, which aired from 1979 to 1985, depicted the hijinks of the cousins Luke and Bo Duke of Hazzard County, Georgia, whose main occupation seemed to be defying authority, an occupation in which they were aided by their customized, red Dodge Charger, the better to outrun the law. The car, dubbed the General Lee, is what got them banned from the airwaves. The General Lee has a Confederate battle flag on the roof, an image now too horrible to be exposed to human eyes.

Nothing “hysterical” about it.
It’s a pogrom.
we are being hunted....
this is part of our American history and here it is being destroyed...
I see all this crap as similar to the Nazi’s burning books or anything else that did not fit with their theme.
A few years back I was talking to a lefty and a John Wayne movie came up. He strongly disliked Wayne because he was a mean spirited bully.
I can see the censorship coming now of John Wayne and any other strong male figure types of yester-year being done away with too.
I can see the old cowboy & Indian westerns done away with.
Any revolutionary war era movies that accurately depict our history gone.
As with the Nazis & the commies, they want to cleanse us of the truth.
The only thing that will be left to watch will be MSM/State Run news, soft sports, and movies with bull dykes and fairies.
The next generation will never learn about the legend of Johnny Yuma.
I almost mentioned the black market, but that would be dangerously close to hate speech.
Nope. They defied "Boss Hogg" and his corruption. Roscoe P. Coltrane was a corrupt simpleton that Hogg put into place to enforce specific local jurisdictional and arbitrary ordinances that allowed Hogg to maintain his diminutive dictatorship.
The Dukes of Hazzard was quite precient.
At least the Lefty you were arguing with didn’t badger you about John Wayne really being a closeted homosexual ....
I’ve never even seen the show but I don’t see this ending well.
I don’t know if it about cleanizing the truth. The truth is still all there in the history books. I think it is more about a lot of people saying that was our history and a part of history that many of us wish not to embolden anymore because it stood/stands for something that was very wrong with society.
I’m still trying to remember the episode where they boys were all upset that they couldn’t keep their own slaves.
Oh, that’s right, because it didn’t happen. In fact I can’t think of a single episode where race was even mentioned. But let’s not let facts get in the way here.
Well, where is Denver Pyle when he need him? Just so they don’t take “The Dukes” off Wikipedia.
But the history books will be “cleande” too or already have. The American people say they oppose “censorship”, but do they?
It's about at that point now. Will they go after the Lawrence Welk re-broadcasts on PBS as "too wholesome"?
How would most American's know if history books are being censored. I dare say most Americans have not read a history book in years, if ever.
I’ll miss Bo and Luke— don’t forget Daisy’s dukes.but there’ll always be a General Lee somewhere in side of me.
Tell Cooter he was right — this madness is such a sight.
but when all is said or done —It’s goodby I’ve got to run- tell the last man standing to turn out the lights and lock the door.
I am certain the Welk band played Dixie on one of their shows.
The Dukes of Hazzard was a low-rent gathering of offensive stereotypes of white southerners: felonious rebels, unemployed stockcar boys (i.e., moonshine runners), Dogpatch sweeties, corrupt icecream suit-wearing politicians, redneck sheriffs, etc., with average IQ’s in the 60’s (and that’s for the screenwriters). The stockcar named General Lee, perpetuated the crowning tribute to triteness: the notion that southerners still ain’t fergettin’ the Civil War, albeit through a sugary haze of dim wits. Becuz they’uns be backerds crackas and all.
It is richly ironic that the PC crowd has decided the Dukes must go, not because it trades in crude stereotypes and the humiliation of whites, but because they fear seeing the instrument of that humiliation might offend blacks.
Next up: OMG, Hogan’s Heroes had Nazi flags!
I’ve always thought DoH was weak and stupid on the level of Spongebob, if tv never airs it again, OK by me, but not because of the stupid flag...
No, they have not. If anything, a lot of the history books and memorials tend to put the confederates in a bit more of a nicer point of view than they should be.
